The Assistant Director, Membership & Promotion is the lead communications strategist in the Recreational Sports & Fitness (RecFit) department.. The incumbent is also responsible for the branding and image of the unit. This includes marketing and promotion of all facilities, memberships, and services. The position is responsible for ensuring that the RecFit brand is consistent with the University brand and the overall goals of the unit department. This position is also responsible for all membership sales and renewals. Membership sales make up 60% of all revenue to the unit.
Supervises the Member Services & Facility Coordinator and the Aquatics Facility Manager including providing direction and feedback to the PMP process.
Communications & Marketing
Develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns that bolster the reputation of the department and position RecFit programs, facilities, and services as essential to the student experience. Serve as the media contact for the department, and leverage its presence in print and digital media. Provide overall website direction and strategy. Write and edit web content. Oversee all social media. Act as a liaison with University Communications and Athletics and Recreation communications staff.
Membership & Guest Services
Responsible for membership and guest related functions for all fitness facilities, including but not limited to: program registrations, payment processing, membership recruitment, membership registration and services, recreation equipment operations, locker rentals, and general customer service protocols/applications. Other responsibilities include: the development, delivery, administration and guidance of all client relation services including customer service protocols, training of guest services and reception staff, member and guest services management. Maintain control and inventories of equipment and supplies in assigned area. Prepare monthly and annual reports as it relates to memberships and inventory.
Operations & Financial Management
Oversees all front desk operations including, check in software, money handling, and accounting for all membership sales. Coordinate all financial transactions for memberships and services. Oversee all money handling procedures, including daily deposits.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation Administration, Sports Management or related field
3-5 years of relevant experience
At least 3 years of experience related to membership management, guest services management, campus recreation program management, marketing or communications.
4+ years of experience in facility supervision, personnel management and member services
Experience in higher education recreation and student services settings
CPR & AED
Experience with content management systems, HTML, email marketing software, and Adobe Creative Suite
Sales and marketing experience

We also manage Cassell Fitness Center and Congressional Fitness Center. Cassell is approximately 8,000 square feet of fitness and multiple purpose studio space. Congressional is 1,000 square feet and primarily used for personal and small group training.
