Assist in the direction and oversight of the operations of the Campus Recreation department. Provide leadership and mentoring to full-time staff members, graduate assistants, and student assistants in assigned program areas. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff in designated areas in compliance with all applicable university guidelines.
Be actively involved in developing or assisting in the creation and implementation of appropriate professional development plans for each full-time member of the programs staff under the successful candidate’s reporting structure; plan and assist in student staff trainings (i.e. All Staff Trainings, etc.); standardize & implement evaluation system and forms for staff evaluations; implement Staff Development Workshops; implement and oversee student recognition (i.e. staff spotlights, Student Appreciation Lunch, Graduate Assistant recognition, Night on Fire nominations, etc.).
Oversees budget of assigned area and assists the director in the management of general funds for the department.
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related work experience.

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
