The Division of Student Affairs is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of University Recreation. This position is an integral member of the Division of Student Affairs which includes Career Development, Counseling and Psychological Services, Child Development Center, Electronic Student Services, Student Health Services, University Housing, Multicultural Student Development, Parent and Family Services, Student Conduct, Student Engagement and Leadership, Student Legal Clinic & Off-Campus Student Services, Student Veteran Services, Wellness and Prevention, and University Recreation. The position is responsible for providing leadership, administration and general oversight for the Department of University Recreation. The Director is responsible for coordinating efforts of the Division to further the mission and strategic plan of the University which states in part that:

The Director of University Recreation is a member of the university community who interacts across divisional lines and within the community. The Director works collaboratively with all segments of the university to promote recreation and wellness. In addition to the supervisory responsibilities and support of the of the functional responsibilities of the office, Director works with key faculty, staff and administrators to promote a healthy campus. The Director of University Recreation is a part of a newly created organizational structure and reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Candidates must have a master’s degree in student development, higher education, recreation management, or a related field. A candidate should have at least eight (8) years of progressive administrative experience in higher education. Experience in staff supervision, program development and implementation is required. Candidates must demonstrate a professional history of commitment to the values and practice of inclusion and diversity in a collegiate
environment, show strong evidence of progressive leadership experience, interpersonal and communication skills, policy development, facility management and strong organizational skills. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a record of professional engagement.

The Student Recreation Center (SRC):
The SRC includes a total square footage of approx. 125,000 sq. ft.. Features in the SRC include a smoothie bar, a 50 ft. climbing wall, a cardio room, a weight room area, an indoor walking/jogging track, a 50M swimming pool, UREC Central Offices, and the Outdoor Outing Center. Two gymnasiums used for Intramural activities, Club Sports, as well as Informal use (freeplay). The SRC opened in April 2006 and is home to Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Aquatics, Fitness, Outdoor Programs, and Informal Recreation.
