Responsible for the development, production and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns for the department. This includes print and electronic media, social media and applications, and promotion of programs, events and services. Manage all department assessment initiatives and utilize feedback to affect positive change.

1. Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy for Campus Recreation Services that results in increased growth and visibility.
2. Design and appropriate distribution of all digital and print marketing materials
3. Manage and grow social media presence, while responding to trends and developments.
4. Organize and direct all department assessment tools and instruments. Utilize results to make appropriate and positive change.
5. Ensure a department presence on campus, including representation at activities and events.
6. Manage and assist with special events, both department and university wide.
7. Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and mentor student staff.
8. Manage and forecast annual budget responsibilities.
9. May require select evenings and weekends.
PROBLEM SOLVING The incumbent provides independent oversight and decision making for all activities, programs, scheduling, and staffing for Marketing and Assessment. Appropriate application of guidelines and policies is crucial. Long range forecasting and professional dexterity. The incumbent serves as a liaison between staff and program participants. Communicates effectively with all members of the department. Ability to work with multiple levels of personalities and respond to operational changes and emergency situations.

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Department Specific Minimum Qualifications Two years of progressive experience, including proven software proficiencies in Adobe CC (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Premiere), Adobe Lightroom, Wordpress, Hootsuite, Signage Studio or similar platforms. Demonstrated effectiveness in marketing campaigns and ability to lead and supervises student staff.
