Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Campus Recreation, this position is responsible for the oversight and development of all facility management and business operations within the department of Campus Recreation. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of facility student staff and ensuring efficiency in daily operations of the Student Recreation Center, Ehinger Gymnasium and outdoor fields. Responsibilities include student development through trainings, student success program and orientations. This position will be responsible for the business operations of the department by maximizing the efficiency of business procedures, ensuring compliance and monitoring financial data through revenue streams.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Supervise two Graduate Assistants, conducting semester performance evaluations and providing direction • Directly manage over fifteen facility supervisors who manage the student recreation center • Directly manage over fifty recreation attendants who are responsible for day to day operations • Supervise campus recreation student staff for rentals in the Student Recreation Center, Ehinger Gymnasium, and outdoor athletic/recreation facilities • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of all campus recreation student staff. • Develop a student success program for all campus recreation student staff aligned with university and division learning outcomes and strategic priorities • Assist in the coordination of new student orientations and programs • Develop assessment to evaluate programs and services to determine overall effectiveness • Develop and maintain key management system of all facilities • Oversee and direct inventory, inspection, and maintenance of the Student Recreation Center • Manage all scheduling of facility spaces in Student Recreation Center, Ehinger Gymnasium and outdoor recreation facilities • Manage internal and external rentals for Campus Recreation Department • Manage employee and alumni Student Recreation Center membership programs • Assist in the development of an annual program report (i.e. participation numbers, injuries, incidents). • Develop and manage budget for facilities and rental revenue • Manage contracts for external rentals • Oversee work orders for facilities • Oversee equipment rentals for campus recreation department
Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Athletic and Sport Administration (or related field)
Three years of facility and business operations experience in a University setting
Experience in student staff development
Outstanding oral and written interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a diverse, educational community
Budget preparation and fiscal management skills
Creative program planning and implementation skills
Knowledge of community resources and support services Knowledge and understanding of student development within the higher education setting
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Membership in the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
