HealthFitness has an exciting new opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week, benefits eligible) Fitness Coordinator with our new client Babson College, located approximately 15 miles west of Boston in Wellesley, MA. Babson College recently opened a new modern, multi-use recreation and athletic center this past fall. The new center will nearly double the size of Babson’s current athletics and recreation facilities, improve the quality and quantity of available fitness equipment, and strengthen the overall experience for Babson students, faculty & staff and local community. The new 75,000-square-foot addition will feature:
A large, two-story fitness and recreation area with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight room
Multipurpose studio spaces for yoga, dance, and aerobics classes
Dedicated varsity locker rooms, expanded sports medicine area, and an advanced strength, cardio, and conditioning area for varsity sports teams
Three courts for recreational sports
Improved locker room facilities for all students
Large, flexible space to host major college events in any season
The Fitness Coordinator is an integral member of the Recreation management team and will provide administrative and programmatic support in the offering of group exercise, small group training, personal training, fitness floor management and fitness outreach to the Babson College community. Fitness will program within three group exercise studios, 10,000 square feet of fitness floor (cardio and strength), and in various other spaces within Babson Athletic and Recreation Complex facilities and fields. The ideal candidate will be a true champion for student programming, passionate about campus recreation and the development of student leaders, and committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle within a diverse and inclusive campus environment. Available to work Tuesday-Friday 5am-1:30pm & Saturday 9am-5pm (flex with academic program calendar).
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate a diverse group of personal trainers, group exercise & specialty instructors, and fitness desk attendants.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for fitness programming, including personal training, fitness orientations, fitness assessments, and risk management.
Assist with development and implementation of fitness incentive programs, free/low-cost workshops, campus programs, and milestone events.
Assist with the development of annual program and event schedule, goals, and budget forecasts.
Provide personal training and group exercise instruction.
Responsible for fitness center equipment inventory including cleaning, record-keeping, repair and preventative maintenance, developing proposals on liquidation and purchasing, and management of the equipment preventative maintenance contract.
Develop agendas and lead quarterly staff meetings. Attend and actively contribute in staff meetings for Babson Recreation, Fitness team, and Individual fitness meetings.
Address patron concerns with the highest level of attention, customer service and compassion.
Conduct program/event evaluation and assessment through administration of data collection and member feedback tools.
Maintain content for website, social media and any mobile systems.
Attend campus fairs and events to promote and represent Babson Recreation.
Assist in updating and distributing operational and promotional materials to further develop a comprehensive fitness outreach program across campus. including but not limited to the Residence Halls, Academic Departments, Student Organizations, Fraternities, Sororities and Independent Living Groups.
Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's Degree preferred.
2+ years of experience administering comprehensive fitness programming required.
Experience with league and event management.
Experience managing day-to-day operations of an aquatic center of comparable size and scope.
Experience with a broad range of facility and sports equipment and ability to maintain equipment inventory including procurement and check-out.
Current personal training certification through NSCA, ACE, AFAA, ACSM or NASM is required.
Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
Proven ability to build relationships at all levels, across teams and within the collegiate environment.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
Experience with software programs to include InnoSoft Fusion or EMS a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications required.
Experience utilizing social media applications to enhance brand identity a plus.
Background instructing group exercise classes preferred.
Familiarity of the regional market in the setting of rates, fees and identification of services and trends preferred.
