The purpose of this position is supervise our 60+ student club officers and 500+ student club members and oversee all aspects of our Sport Club program which includes 24 specialty clubs and a budget of $134,000. Additionally, this position directs Tiger’s Den summer camp program consisting of 375 distinct camper is essential to its functions including registration fees exceeding $140,000 yearly. This position oversees our camp registration process, develops curriculum for camp, coordinates and oversees all risk management procedures and directly supervises and administers extensive training and in service meetings for Tiger's Den staff.
35% - Sport Club Operations:
Direct supervision of club officers (60+) and members (500+); Training & development of sport club officers (60+); leadership meetings, transition meetings, and coach/instructor orientations; Oversight of day-to-day advising for all clubs (24) and club officer training; Development and maintenance of accurate contact records; Coordinate and work directly with Sport Club Advisory Council; Assist in the enforcement of administrative and operational policies and procedures; Assist with the club accountability process; Knowledge of Sport Club National Governing Bodies; Secure all facilities for programming; Oversee program assessment efforts.
25% - Camp Program Operations:
Oversight of the camp registration process for up to 100 registrants (aged 6 - 12 years) each week (10 weeks); Development and implementation of camp schedule and curriculum; Coordinate, establish, and recommend for approval all the fees pertaining to Camp participation; Prepare, submit for approval, and monitor operational budget ($140,000); Coordinate and oversee all risk management procedures; Oversee program assessment efforts.
20% - Personnel & Fiscal Management:
Directly supervise and administer extensive training and in-service meetings for all Tiger's Den staff (25); Supervise and advise sport clubs officers (60+) and their members about compliance with program, departmental, university, and national guidelines; Coordinate trainings & meetings for officers, participants, and volunteer coaches/instructors; Assist in the training of sport supervisors for sport club responsibilities; Coordinate all equipment purchases, maintenance, and inventory related to sport clubs; Project annual operating budget for sport club programming ($134,000) and camp operations ($140,000); Maintain accurate fiscal records of club reimbursements and awards received from PSIF and ORF; Track all personnel expenses related to sport club and summer camp operations; Maintain accurate records of Camp revenue and expenses.
20% - Program & Professional Involvement:
Provide feedback regarding departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor; Be active professionally through research, publications, presentations, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for various University/community functions, committee work, and other duties as assigned; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the department’s culture of teamwork; Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality outcomes that contribute to student success; Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion; Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need.
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 1 year of experience working in a sport/recreation environment, with particular emphasis in university recreation.
Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of professional work experience in Sport Clubs and/or Youth Camp programs as well as experience in the development and execution of developmentally appropriate youth curriculum.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
The ability to work flexible hours including some weekend on call duties.
