The Department of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Oregon seeks a qualified person that will oversee and facilitate the department’s memberships, programs and services, registration, sales, and outreach. Primary service responsibilities include providing and monitoring facility access, membership services and program registration for Intramural Sports, Rec Fitness, Personal Training, Youth and Family Programs and Physical Education. Oversight includes the staffing and supervision of approximately 12 Service Center student employees.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Business Operations, the Coordinator provides leadership, management and administration for comprehensive membership and outreach programs for the Physical Education and Recreation Department. The Coordinator assists and supports the Associate Director in managing the member services program budget; supervising and mentoring a student work force; and promoting and marketing programs and services. The Coordinator also serves as the first point of contact for patrons and is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring that student staff meets that standard of customer service.

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration/Management, Leisure Studies, Sports Management or Business
Two years of experience in customer service.
CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a population—including co-workers, faculty, students and community members - that reflect a wide range of diversity in an inclusive environment.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to manage the front line functions in retail or service environments.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and implement employee training programs.
Strong skills in written and oral communication.
Master’s degree in Recreation Administration/Management, Leisure Studies, Education Administration, or related field
Experience in, or demonstrated understanding of, basic budget oversight, facility operations, inventory control and purchasing.
Experience with data entry and management, and knowledge of standard computer software programs, including word processing and business applications.
Experience in membership management.
Experience with Fusion software.
Experience with recruitment and outreach.
