Having primary responsibilities in leading over 35 active Sport Clubs with additional duties supporting and leading the Intramural Sports and Sports Camp programs this individual is critical in helping to deliver outstanding competitive and leisure programs to the Red Raider campus community. Specific duties will be tailored around the strengths of the person hired and designed to help them grow professionally.
Position Description :
Manages a sub unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures. Represents the sub unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions :
Work as a member of a team which includes the Assistant Director-Competitive Sports and Coordinator of Competitive Sports to deliver a comprehensive Sport Club and Intramural Sports program to the Texas Tech community
Interview, hire, train, schedule and evaluate Sport Club and Intramural student supervisor staff
Create, coordinate, and assess Sport Club Executive Officer training and co-curricular development programs
Host once/monthly Sport Club Executive Council training, meetings and co-curricular development programs
Host twice/semester Sport Club “General Body” educational and information sessions
Ensure all Sport Club organizations accurately and within a timely manner complete all sport club rosters and travel request submittals
Responsible for oversight of sport club budget accounts and all administrative duties assigned to her or his area
Assist in developing the annual budget for the Sport Club program
Reserve practice and competition space for the various sport club organizations
Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment
Assist with the supervision and leadership of the Intramural Sports program including evening and weekend competitions
Assist with the development and implementation of a robust summer sports camp program
Assist with semesterly department events. Examples include Red Raider WelcomeFest, Winter Raider Welcome, NIRSA Day, Random Acts of Kindness Week, etc.

Bachelor's degree with two years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal six years.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred
One-year program experience in the field of campus or community recreation with responsibilities in areas such as league/tournament and camps supervision and leadership
Two-years or more experience preferred
Officiating experience. A patch in one specific sport preferred
American Red Cross AED/CPR/1st Aid certification
American Red Cross AED/CPR/1st Aid Instructor certification within one year
Leadership and supervisory experience
Ability to work as part of and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle decisions
Strong communication and presentation skills
