University Recreation (UREC) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Group Exercise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire, train, and manage a diverse student staff including Group Exercise Instructions, Group Exercise Managers, and Small Group Training Instructors. Design appropriate interventions and conduct assessments for all trainings. When assigned by the Assistant Director, provide leadership and mentoring for a graduate assistant.
Plan, implement, and coordinate year round, comprehensive Group Exercise offerings including small group training and group exercise prep courses. Establish learning outcomes based upon identified student needs, design appropriate interventions, and conduct assessments for all programs.
In conjunction with the Assistant Director for Fitness and Wellness, manage fiscal resources of all Group Exercise programs and to make recommendations for purchasing of equipment and supplies, and administer the risk management plan of all Group Exercise programs.
Be a collaborative player on the ten person programming team to develop innovative programming and services that reach beyond each individual program area. Be a part of the weekday evening supervision team to provide student mentoring at all UREC facilities on a rotating basis.
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management or related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
One year of professional experience or two years of Graduate Assistant experience in developing group exercise staff training required.
One year of professional experience or two years of Graduate Assistant experience in group exercise programming required, in a campus recreation setting preferred.
Formal training as a group exercise instructor required, Primary Group Exercise Instructor certification preferred (ACE, AFFA or comparable nationally recognized certification).
One year experience teaching group exercise classes required, Instructor Certification in one or more of the program areas of emphasis preferred (Mind/Body, Dance, Athletic).
Knowledge of small group training or personal training techniques required, nationally recognized personal training certification preferred (ACSM, NSCA or comparable).
