The Group Fitness Coordinator provides direct support and leadership to a variety of group fitness, wellness, and outreach programming. The position serves as the primary coordinator for the Exercise is Medicine on Campus program at USF. The Group Fitness Coordinator is responsible for programs, education, and marketing related to engaging students and members in fitness activities. Learn more about Recreation & Wellness.
Provide leadership to the group fitness class program (offering more than 70 classes per week) and non-credit instructional program for the department of Recreation & Wellness. Develop and deliver comprehensive programming to support the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) on Campus program at USF.
Develop and coordinate an annual calendar of fitness related special events, awareness campaigns, and incentive programs.
Recruit, supervise, train and evaluate student and non-student OPS employees to support the group fitness and outreach related programming. Assist in the supervision and development of program assistants, internship students and graduate assistants as assigned.
Facilitate in-house group fitness instructor training annually and provide continuing education opportunities by coordinating and hosting nationally recognized workshops and certifications.
Assist the Assistant Director for Fitness & Wellness in evaluating group fitness, EIM programs, and other initiatives. Contribute to the development of the fitness and wellness annual report. Assist with the strategic goals necessary for program growth.
Oversee purchase, routine maintenance and inventory of all group fitness related equipment; complete safety and risk management audits. Operate within budget to meet staffing, programming, and equipment needs. Monitor industry trends and develop budget projections for staff, future programming and specific equipment needs.
Provide marketing direction for group fitness and EIM related programs and services; Collaborate with Health & Wellness marketing team for outreach efforts. Serve on related committees and complete other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, Public Health, or other Allied Health Field with at least one year of professional experience in a student affairs/higher education or fitness environment.
Master’s degree in Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, Public Health, or other Allied Health Field with at least one year of experience working professionally in a university recreation health/fitness setting (two years of graduate assistantship can substitute one year of experience).
Group exercise related certification (e.g. ACSM, NSCA, ACE, or NASM) with the demonstrated ability to teach multiple formats (Zumba, Cycling and/or preferred) and train/educate others.
