The University of Maine is seeking Facility Operations Graduate Assistant applicants for the 2020-2021 academic year. The graduate assistant works with the Coordinator of Administrative and Business Services within the Department of Campus Recreation, and assists in the day-to-day management of the New Balance Student Recreation Center Front Desk Operations.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, scheduling student staff each semester to work the Front Desk of the Rec Center; update and maintain the Front Desk student staff manual; oversee and advise the student-led student hiring process for new student staff; track and oversee student staff compliance with required trainings and certifications; assist with student staff training and supervision; assist with monthly billings, invoicing and other duties as needed/assigned.
All successful Graduate Assistant candidates will demonstrate the following:

Computer knowledge, including proficiency with Windows based computer system and Microsoft applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies
Excellent customer service skills
1-2 years of experience working with customer service and facility operations personnel in a collegiate recreation setting.
Standard CPR and First Aid Certification
Requirements include a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university; acceptance by the UMaine Graduate School, (a GPA of 3.0 or above, official transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation are required by the Graduate School). Additional Salary Information: This Graduate Assistantship starts on August 17, 2020 and runs through May 15, 2020. The stipend includes total pay of $15,200.00 and a tuition waiver. The $15,200.00 stipend is for 9 months and will be paid in 10 equal installments on the last working day of each month. Summer employment is available.
You also will be receiving information from the Graduate School regarding student health insurance. You are required to purchase this insurance if you are unable to provide documentation showing current insurance coverage. As part of your compensation, we will pay half of your student health insurance cost and you will be financially responsible for the other half.
