Reporting to the Senior Director of Campus Recreation, this individual will be responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and daily operations of all aspects of the West Chester University Fitness/Wellness programs. This position will oversee all marketing efforts for the department including website, fall and spring program guides, social media and strategies to better position the department. This position will oversee special events for the department to better serve the students, faculty and staff at West Chester University. This individual must be able to work evening hours and weekends when necessary regarding Campus Recreation functions.
Primary responsibilities include:
Supervise two Graduate Assistants, conducting semester performance evaluations and providing direction
Supervise one Marketing intern, conducting semester performance evaluations
Supervise campus recreation student staff in programming recreational activities in the Student Recreation Center and other appropriate facilities or areas
Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of campus recreation student staff for fitness, nutrition and special events.
Provide leadership and management of the group fitness program
Manage day to day operations that include scheduling classes and instructors, managing fitness studios, equipment maintenance and inventory control
Directing the implementation of certification workshops and conferences
Assist in the marketing and promotion of department events
Organize and promote special events for the department to maximize participation
Evaluate all fitness, nutrition, and special event programs and services to determine overall effectiveness
Management of fitness contracts
Assist in the development of an annual budget, schedule and program reports (i.e. participation numbers, injuries, incidents)
Maintain all records of fitness and special event participants
Maintain and update department website
Develop the department promotional materials (Fall & Spring Guide, Flyers, etc.)
Develop program learning outcomes and assessment to document impact of programs
Develop marketing strategies to assist with department goals
Assists with department and Division assessment efforts
Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Athletic and Sport Administration (or related field) preferred.
Two years of fitness/wellness and marketing experience in a University setting
Demonstrated commitment to access, diversity, and equity
Experience in student staff development
Outstanding oral and written interpersonal communication skills
Budget preparation and fiscal management skills
Creative program planning and implementation skills
Knowledge of community resources and support services
Knowledge and understanding of student development within the higher education setting
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Membership in the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA)
