The Assistant Director of Outdoor Adventure is an instrumental part of the overall success of the Department of Recreation and Wellness. This individual has direct oversite of the Outdoor Adventure program, including the Outdoor Adventure Experience (OAE) trip program and the day to day operations of the rock wall.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate and develop Outdoor Adventure student leaders and employees, specifically Outdoor Adventure Experience (OAE) leaders, Rockwall student employees, Basecamp Attendants, and a non-student Professional Intern.
Directly supervise all aspects of Outdoor Adventures which include the Trip Program (OAE) and the Rockwall.
Design and conduct staff trainings for OAE leaders in Interpersonal Skills, Technical Skills, Judgement, and Group Management.
Design and conduct trainings for Rockwall attendants.
Oversee and administer annual The Ascent, our annual climbing wall competition.
Partner with other campus departments to provide outdoor experiences to the campus community.
Provide direct supervision to a 29hr/week Professional Intern position.
Maintain up to date knowledge and certifications through professional development opportunities.
Manage the Outdoor Adventure Budget totaling $28,000.
Oversee the department in developing marketing strategies to students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and families.
Direct oversight of the Outdoor Adventures web content. Serve as the social media point person for this area.
