As an integral part of Wellness@ASU, the engagement team is leading the way in providing personalized frameworks for students to establish and maintain positive health habits at ASU and beyond. We do this by assessing student health and wellness needs, providing a variety of programs and building environments that promote healthy living, decision-making and student engagement for students to ultimately be better equipped to succeed in their academics, career and in their personal lives. This person will also be responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in ASU Spirit, Pride, and Tradition while instilling institutional affiliation and college pride.
The Program Coordinator for Engagement, Student Development, and Facilities serves as a central member of the programing, aquatics, and facilities team and is primarily located at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex-Downtown. This position is responsible for developing student employees into student leaders, through ongoing training, assessment, and development of student staff. The Program Coordinator for Engagement, Student Development, and Facilities works in a team setting to deliver world-class facilities and services across ASU’s four campuses in the Metro Phoenix area.

Salary Range $32,663 - $36,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties Student Staff Development: Utilize principles of growth mindset when facilitating the engagement, development, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of a dynamic student staff that consists of student coordinators, student managers, and facility and event staff. Leadership Development: Design and implement development and leadership opportunities for student leaders. Supervise through mentorship of student leaders as they navigate the policies, procedures, and processes of the Sun Devil Fitness & Wellness Program. Act as a support network for all student staff members as they develop transferable soft skills and work towards graduation. Special Events: Coordinate and manage special events to include; planning, invoicing, set-up & tear-down arrangements, and evaluation of Student Organization and University Department events. Serve as a liaison between Sun Devil Fitness & Wellness and special event organizers. Coordinate the preparation of contracts and agreements for special events held in Sun Devil Fitness Complex facilities. Assist with the preparation of contracts and agreements as they pertain to Student Organization and University Department special events held in Sun Devil Fitness Complex. Risk Management: Serve as member of the Sun Devil Fitness & Wellness Risk Management Committee. Provide risk management training as a prominent and essential component of student trainings. Student Engagement: Monitor the inclusivity of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex and ensure that all student staff and patrons are meeting their wellness needs. Foster a student centered experience for both users and staff members. Facility Operations: Ensure the continuity of the daily operations of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex – Downtown Phoenix Campus. Meet with Arizona State University FACMAN on maintenance requests for the building as well as providing follow up and evaluation of all work completed in the building.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications Evidence of a Master's degree in Higher Education, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Recreation, Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or related field and minimum one (1) year of professional experience. Experience supervising, training, developing and evaluating student employees. Experience initiating collaborations with university and community partnerships. Experience cultivating an inclusive, safe and diverse environment for student participants and staff. Experience training and evaluating student employees’ evidence of programming experience or involvement experience with risk management practices Experience in higher education Facilities settings Demonstrated knowledge of point of sale software and tracking systems such as Fusion Evidence of current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain in the first thirty (30) days Evidence of current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification or willing to obtain in the first thirty (30) days Experience working with Microsoft Office Programs
