This is a full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The Assistant Director for Communication & Marketing has responsibility for ensuring effective and high quality messaging and communications promoting a favorable public image of University Recreation & Wellness. This person will provide leadership and direction to one (1) full-time and 10-12 student staff in the communications & marketing unit. Specific responsibilities include: developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns that bolster the reputation of the department and position RecWell programs, facilities, and services as essential to the student experience, developing a strategy for RecWell department social media accounts and blog, ensuring regular posting and monitoring of RecWell social media accounts, and implementing social marketing campaigns that educate the UMD community about wellness and serve to position RecWell as a leading advocate for wellness on this campus.
Candidates must have, as a minimum: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience, exemplary writing and oral communication skills, experience developing and implementing behavior change (social marketing) campaigns, experience developing and managing website content, and working knowledge of current social media tools. Preferred Qualifications include aMaster’s degree, experience using a wide range of software such as: adobe illustrator, Indesign, Lightroom, and Premiere, experience supervising others, experience using a website content management system such as drupal, and experience with mass mailing services such as mailchimp and project management applications.
START DATE: June 15, 2020 preferred.
