The Coordinator for Intramural and Recreation Sports provides leadership and direction for intramurals, club sports, and fitness center-related special events, incorporates best practices in the field of university recreation. The Coordinator Intramural and Recreation Sports works under the supervision of the Director for Fletcher Fitness Center and in the division of Student Life.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with overall operations of the fitness center
Assist with overall operations of the pool
Facilitate student staff payroll
Develop, implement, and assess policies and procedures for facilities and special event program areas
Develop and maintain facility and special event program budget
Assist with the administration, execution and evaluation of all marketing operations including but not limited to: social media, web, print and digital designs, multi-media, photo and video projects.
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and supervision of sports officials and undergraduate student employees.
Manage the Intramural Recreation fields, outdoor basketball courts, and sand volleyball courts.
Manage teams, rosters, and the planning and execution of intramural and recreation events.
Maintain an intramural handbook and ensure guidelines for participants are met
Assist with onsite supervision of games.
Conduct sport participant and official meetings and maintain positive and professional attitude towards HSU.
Enforce intramural sports and procedures and ensure emergency action plans are executed properly.
Supervise and schedule season/tournament events for intramurals and club sports.
Create and serve as the advisor to the Campus Recreation Advisory Board.
Attend and facilitate departmental and divisional meetings.
Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving general recreation. equipment, bleachers, goals/backstops, 20-gallon paint buckets, trash, cleaning, etc.
Directly manages four intramural supervisors.
Aids in the oversight of thirty student workers including maintenance and intramurals officials. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these student employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training student employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining student employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Project Management software; Payroll systems; Order processing systems; Human Resource systems and Contact Management systems.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Preferably in a kinesiology/recreation or sport related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 2-year experience in a sport/fitness related field is required. Preferably in a supervisory/managerial role.
Experience in Facility and/or Recreation Management preferred.
Familiarity with current trends and practices within the recreational/fitness profession required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to relate effectively with students and communicate professionally is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required.
Additional certifications could be required as needed

This is a Non-Exempt, Full Time Position. A minimum of a 40-hour work week is expected; weekly schedule may vary each week; Candidate must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends depending on the time of year.
All hours worked beyond 40 hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and a half, per FSLA guidelines.
Must have an maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Some travel may be required on occasion in order to attend off-campus events and/or training when necessary.
