Working with full time and student staff, the Facility Coordinator will be responsible for the professional supervision of facility operations including a 300,000 sq, ft. indoor facility and 65 plus acres of outdoors fields, track, sand volleyball courts and trails. This position will interact with and assist students and members with their daily use. Areas of concentration will include personnel leadership with an emphasis on student development, training and coaching on a daily basis; a high degree of attention to the condition and appearance of the facilities; frequent interaction with members and guests; and assessment of overall efficiency and effectiveness of facilities and services.
Supervise daily operation of multiple, highly visible, recreation facility spaces to ensure a safe, friendly, and functional environment; provide immediate service assistance to students, members and guests; and enforce security policies and practices.
Interview, select, train, coach, and give performance evaluations to 100 – 150 Team Mizzou student staff within Facility Operations which includes facility access, supervision of fitness spaces, equipment check out, and climbing.
Supervise the Open and Closing Facility Managers.
Assist in overseeing safety and risk management of facility.
Manage day to day operations regarding commercial laundry, equipment check out, and Fitness.
Determine and administer appreciative, corrective, and disciplinary action related to conduct or performance issues in accordance with University policies.
Manage budgets and inventory of facility operations, climbing, and fitness supplies.
Administer assessment of overall efficiency and effectiveness of facilities and services.
Actively pursue outreach opportunities to collaborate with both internal and external constituents to enhance program offerings, communicate important information, and advance facility offerings.
Document and disseminate information through appropriate channels to include completion of reports and daily records pertaining to operations and programs.
Serve as a member of the Facility On-Duty Leadership Team by providing on-duty, direct front-line leadership for all aspects of the Student Recreation Complex, Stankowski Outdoor Complex to include the ability to actively engage and provide ands on coaching and leadership to all front-line Team Mizzou student staff.
Have base level knowledge of scheduling, check in, and student employment systems.
Prepare semester/annual reports to include statistical analysis, evaluations and assessments, and program recommendations.
Enforce all policies & procedures of department practices and university guidelines.
Coach and train student staff on Emergency Action Plan duties.
Provide support as needed to special events and programming.
Demonstrating leadership through initiative, attention to detail, creativity, quality customer service, reliability and accountability.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, good decision making skills as well as have experience with presentation preparation and delivery. Additionally, demonstrate adherence to MizzouRec guidelines and be capable of handling crisis situations.
Providing recommendations on improvements for all fitness equipment and establishing priorities for equipment.
Develop and maintain a consistent message to ensure a cultivating and seamless experiences for members and guests.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain the MizzouRec mission.
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
A Master’s degree in recreation administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Standard Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and / or Instructor Certification.
Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Fusion.
Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented, as well as, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent presentation skills, and written and verbal communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of facility and student staff management.
