The Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation and Education coordinates all aspects of outdoor recreation, education and leadership for the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus. As a key member of the Campus Center Facility and Recreation team, they advise and support students while creating a vibrant, dynamic and educational out of class experience. The Coordinator provides oversight to a vibrant Outdoor Recreation Council of committed clubs and organizations. The Coordinator will develop and facilitate departmental programs, implement processes and procedures, and provide a wide variety of trainings for outdoor recreation, student leadership, and Orientation. The Coordinator supervises the Outdoor Recreation student staff and Pre-Orientation Trip Leaders and is responsible for planning and executing a robust pre-Orientation trip program that assists in transitioning new students to the University.
Master’s Degree in Student Personal, Higher Education Administration, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation, Recreation Management or Related Field and a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience with outdoor education, outdoor recreation, student activities and involvement, and/or leadership development or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required.
Maine Guide Certification; sea kayaking and recreation qualifications
CPR & Wilderness First Aid Certified
Small marine engine and 12v electrical engine maintenance experience
Certified Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician
Leave No Trace Master Educator
AMGA Single Pitch and or climbing wall certification
