UWF Recreation and Wellness is excited to announce the anticipated openings of 4 Graduate Assistant positions at the University of West Florida within the following areas:

Graduate Assistant – Outdoor Adventure
Responsibilities: Lead a comprehensive university outdoor recreation program, including climbing center, trips, challenge course, sailing, disc golf, and bicycle programs. Collaborate on department-level projects with other graduate assistants and professionals. Take a leadership role in the operation of the climbing center and trip areas. Oversee maintenance and inspection of Climbing Center, Bike Shop, Outdoor Center, Sailing program, and all equipment associated with those program areas. Assist with clinics, special events, and department programs as needed. Manage the hiring, scheduling, training, and supervising of 12+ instructors (Climbing instructors, Trip leaders, Bike Shop and Sailing attendants). Plan, budget, market, and lead trips. Work with the Coordinator to administer the program budget and risk management procedures. Plan and administer Recreation and Wellness’ youth summer camp, Argo Adventure Kids Camp. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, and acceptance into a UWF Graduate Program are required. Experience in outdoor activities, such as backpacking, canoe camping, rock climbing, and kayaking. At least one year of trip leader experience. Knowledge of Leave No Trace principles. Wilderness First Responder Certification or able to obtain. Experience as a climbing instructor in an indoor climbing facility.
Benefits: $13,000 stipend (budget pending) paid bi-weekly, full tuition waiver, and professional development opportunities. Summer employment will include up to 29 hours/week at $13/hour for 9 weeks.

Graduate Assistant - Wellness
Assist with daily operations of the Wellness program. Develop and provide outreach/program services to UWF students related to prevention and health promotion. The specific areas of focus include alcohol misuse and abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention, stress management, healthy relationships, and sexual health promotion. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Peer Educators. Assess effectiveness of programs and Peer Educator delivery of information to the campus population. Assist with planning and administration of campus wide ArgoWell wellness initiative. Engage in large-scale event planning (Take Back the Night and ArgoWell programs). Create and market the program through print and social media. Collaborate with other departments on wellness programming. Attend all graduate assistant, departmental, and divisional staff meetings. Serve on university committees as requested. Maintain daily office hours.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, and acceptance into a UWF Graduate Program are required. Experience with college health promotion, event planning and evaluation preferred.
