Qualifications: Acceptance into the University of West Georgia Graduate School in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in related field. Recommended programs include College Student Affairs, Sport Management, and Public Administration. Competitive Sports The Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports with the management, planning, and administration of the Recreational (Intramural) Sports and Club Sports program. The primary focus will be the recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student employees including officials, supervisors, program assistants, and esport office assistants. Other duties include league/tournament programming, budget planning, and policy/procedure development. Additional responsibilities include marketing, promotion, and assessment of programs as well as serving on departmental committees. Qualifications: Experience in officiating Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, Indoor Soccer, Volleyball, and Softball is preferred. Experience in Club Sport management, adaptive/inclusive programming, as well as esport/virtual programming is also preferred. Contact: Caroline Mashburn, Assistant Director of Competitive Sports cmashbur@westga.edu Fitness and Wellness The Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness in the overall organization and administration of a comprehensive fitness and wellness program with an emphasis in Group Fitness, Personal Training, Small Group Training, and Wellness Programs. Additional responsibilities include opportunities for experience and collaboration with Marketing, Facilities, Competitive Sports, and Outdoors as well as serving on departmental committees. This position requires a flexible schedule including non-traditional work hours and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Experience with instruction and education of best practices in fitness programming; possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; admission into a UWG graduate program; possess a national personal training certification and/or group fitness certification from an NCCA accredited organization; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaboratively work with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Contact: Drew Powell, Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness wpowell@westga.edu Operations and Student Development The Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Facilities and Events in the overall organization and administration of comprehensive leadership development and training. This position will work in collaboration with the department and graduate assistants and will serve as the direct supervisor for 13+ building managers responsible for the safety and security of the Campus Center. This position requires a flexible schedule including non-traditional work hours, ability to assist with campus wide and Campus Center events, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Collegiate recreation experience; motivated, enthusiastic, and attentive to detail; current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Contact: Stephen Delaney, Interim Director sdelaney@westga.edu Event Operations The Event Operations Graduate Assistant will be responsible for managing the day to day event operations of University Recreation within the Campus Center. This will include facility reservations, operating supplies, payroll and management of student staff to include First Aid and CPR/AED training. The Event Operations Graduate Assistant is expected to assist with special events held within the Campus Center as well as mandatory University events such as move-in day, graduation, orientation, convocation, etc. This position requires a flexible schedule including non-traditional work hours and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or other related field; strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
