Who We Are: https://youtu.be/cCxOWtyHhOc About Our Staff Culture: https://youtu.be/qyRoURTxFDI Position Summary The Sr. Assistant Director for Sport Programs will manage 3-5 professional staff in the delivery of recreation and wellness programing, primarily in the areas of intramural and club sports, electronic/virtual (esports) competitions, and Boiler Kids Camp by focusing on policy and strategy implementation. This position will report to and work collaboratively with the Sr. Associate Director, Programs. Lead the assessment and evaluation of programs; develop new program outcomes and objectives for areas of oversight. Work with campus and community partners to support programming, marketing, and recruiting efforts. Oversee budgets within their area and allocate resources to staff. Must stay abreast of regional and national trends in all applicable areas. May oversee the purchase of large equipment, maintenance, and repair fees related to the program. Serve on department leadership team to assist with departmental goals and priorities that require excellent knowledge, initiative, judgment, and critical thinking. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Duties & Responsibilities Administration: Provide administrative oversight for a comprehensive intramural, club sports, and esports program that includes hundreds of teams, thousands of participants, multiple indoor and outdoor facilities, and hundreds of youth participants in the summer Boiler Kids Camp (BKC). Determine shared-use facility scheduling priority for all programming in coordination with overall RecWell reservation and use mission and policies. Ensure BKC has appropriate staff and management measures in place to provide for camp needs. Also, ensure clubs have proper management and protocols in place to provide the safest environment for their practices, games, and travel. Ensure clubs have access to officer designations, roles, and expectations. Personnel: Supervise and designate duties and assignments among 3-5 professional staff. Staff are responsible for training and supervising dozens of BKC student staff, plus, 100+ student employees require training on sport rules, officiating techniques, event management, customer service, risk management, and other daily operations. Address professional and student staff needs on a daily basis. Financial Development: Oversee the development and fundraising efforts for clubs and other departmental areas. Ensure that alumni and outreach strategies and efforts are in place, gift accounts are tracked, and reach out to future alumni and potential donors to cultivate relationships. Work collaboratively with Student Life Development staff and the individual clubs. Staff Development: Create, communicate, and exemplify the overall staff leadership and development philosophy and mission for Sport Program services, and the role of staff in accomplishing area, department, and university objectives and learning outcomes. Communicate internal and external personal development opportunities to all staff, while encouraging ongoing learning, conference attendance, and engaging in professional presentations. Provide resources and training in each of those areas. Strategic Planning: Utilize strategic planning and goal setting for future program growth and success for Sport Programs and the department. Analyze campus and national trends to determine changing needs for funding models, programs, staff, facilities, and collaboration with other departments, as well as external entities. Maintain relationships with state, regional, and national associations to consider hosting events, conferences, and tournaments. Budget: Provide a structure for program fees and budgeting in all Sport Program areas for staff. Based on department and university budget philosophies, design and allotments, ensure revenue and expense designations are appropriate for individuals, teams, and leagues. Annual budgets will be created in an accurate and timely manner. Assessment: Actively assess the value of Sport Program services for participants and staff, and provide regular reports. Other Duties. Collaborate and assist with other divisional and departmental planning, policy development, implementation, evaluation, and special events, as assigned by RecWell leadership.
