Graduate Assistant, Marketing & Promotions
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Promotions is to work directly with the Assistant Director of Marketing & Guest Services to enhance the overall marketing and promotions for Recreational Services. This position requires managing of the Website Student Specialist, the Videographer/ Photographer student employee and any intern that will work within marketing. This position works to facilitate the University's goal of implementing the new brand while assuring that you are following all marking protocol. This job requires a deadline-oriented mindset with use of marketing trends that are specific to a college audience. This Graduate Assistant will be responsible for a variety of marketing initiatives including creating, advertising, promotions, campus outreach, social media, and staff training. This person will need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills and must possess the ability to work with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
Recreational Services Web Site management.
Create consistency with the brand.
Work with obtaining and sustaining relationships with sponsors, donors, area businesses and departments.
Supply creative branding ideas and techniques for Recreational Services programs.
Recruit, manage, and train the team of Student Employees, Marketing Interns, and Practicum Students.
Determine marketing plans for the UToledo REC on a “day-to-day" basis while creating specific annual marketing targets.
Create a new event with a marketing strategy to host at the Recreation Center.
Maintain and manage tabling for various on and off campus events.
Work directly with REC center professional staff to ensure deadlines of promotional material and projects.
Attend Professional Staff meetings and function and display team leadership.
Serve as a contributing member of the Student Development Committee.
Assist with coordinating and planning Leadership and Training Week for Fall and Spring semesters
Assist with coordinating Student Leadership Academy (SLA)
Assist with coordinating development opportunities with campus and community partners
Serve on Student Infraction Appeals Committee
Other Duties as assigned
Personal/Professional Development Responsibilities
Attend and participate in all Graduate Assistant trainings: August 16-20, 2021.
Attend and participate in all trainings and meetings within employee group and department wide, including Leadership and Training Week: August 23-27, 2021.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.
Candidates must pursue a Graduate Degree in Higher Education, Exercise Science, Business, Public Health, Public Administration or Recreation Administration. Offers are contingent upon acceptance into the previously mentioned graduate programs.
Must meet The University of Toledo student employment qualifications.
Must have and maintain current American Red Cross BLS CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Prefer instructor level certification (can be obtained within the first 6 months of hire).
Attend all UToledo orientations and trainings.
Have experience in website management, graphic design and social media promotions.
Must clear a criminal background check through The University of Toledo Police Department.
Working Conditions
Maximum of 20 hours worked per week during the fall and spring semesters.
Work will take place in Recreational Services facilities: Student Recreation Center, Health Education Center, Carter Field, and Morse Center.
Work shifts include morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours; some holiday hours may be required.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to: Assistant Director, Guest Services & Marketing
Supervises: Student Marketing Team
Remittance
Full in-state tuition waiver and stipend of $4,500 per fall and spring semester.
Summer work is available and preferred.
Student is responsible for all fees, parking, books, and tuition above in state amount.
