Campus Recreation, a unit within the Division of Student Life, is seeking applications for a Coordinator for Fitness and Wellbeing. This position oversees the operational, financial and personnel functions of the fitness and wellbeing program and serves as the key administrator for the various programs/events and services within the fitness and wellbeing area.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, this position is responsible for coordinating the daily operations, staffing and strategic vision for the program, as well as the student development initiatives. This person will be responsible for growing activity offerings in line with University needs and industry trends.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Perform administrative duties related to planning, directing and coordinating both the academic and operational activities of the fitness and wellbeing program area.
Develop, promote, execute and evaluate a comprehensive group exercise program, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating instructors.
Serve as a Personal Trainer and/or teach Group Exercise classes as needed.
Provide day-to-day leadership of fitness/wellbeing services, including group exercise, personal training, specialty fitness and other fitness services.
Develop, organize and promote new and ongoing group exercise special event programs and services.
Instruct group exercise instructor and personal training courses.
Collaborate with Manager for Operations and Events and Associate Director regarding policies and procedures impacting all fitness related areas and recommend improvements to policies and guidelines as needed.
Collaborate with the Manager for Operations and Events in training of Operations staff working in the fitness areas and provide ongoing support and oversight of the fitness areas to ensure we are delivering a quality product
Assist in researching fitness programming needs of students, faculty and staff, including long-range strategic planning pertaining to fitness.
Assist in purchasing of fitness equipment for fitness programs and fitness areas.
Provide assistance for campus-wide initiatives and support campus partners as a resource for wellness fairs, speaking engagements for halls/departments and service on various committees.
Recruit, hire, on-board, train, supervise, mentor and facilitate professional development for Graduate Assistants for Fitness and Wellbeing.
Ensure revenue targets are meeting benchmarks set in collaboration with Leadership Team.
Facilitate regularly scheduled instructor and personal training meetings.
Coordinate with non-student weight management and other wellness programs in the area to offer services to their intact groups.

Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, exercise science/physiology or related field required; master's degree preferred
At least two (2) years of experience working in a college or university recreation environment with emphasis on student development programs required; three (3) years or more of experience preferred
National certification in personal training or National certification related to group exercise instructing required (ACE, ACSM, or AFFA Certification)
Personal training and group fitness instructor experience
Demonstrated ability to work with students, student organizations, faculty/student committees, government agencies and community groups
Possess and apply an entrepreneurial approach to planning and problem solving
Knowledge and ability to effectively handle public relations
Working knowledge of contract negotiation and preparation
