AQUATICS & RISK MANAGEMENT Responsibilities: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has an opening for 1 graduate student responsible for assisting with the administration and coordination of fully comprehensive and diverse aquatic and risk management programs. A minimum of 20 hours per week with occasional night and weekend hours is required. Responsibilities include: - Recruit, develop, train, supervise and mentor a diverse aquatic staff
- Development and administration of aquatic education courses to include Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, and Lifeguard Instructor
- Development and administration of aquatic instructional programming to include group and private swimming lessons
- Serve as an active member of the Campus Recreation Risk Management Committee and assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive risk management master plan
Qualifications: Must have training/experience and certification in one or more of the following areas, with preference to American Red Cross certifications: Lifeguarding certification Water Safety Instructor certification (Swim Lessons) Lifeguarding Instructor certification Additional Specialty Certifications are encouraged e.g. Certified Pool Operator Applicant must be officially accepted into a graduate program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to May 1, 2021. GROUP FITNESS The Group Fitness Graduate Assistant will work cooperatively with the staff at Campus Recreation in all phases of programming and administration for Group Fitness. Including but not limited to: supervision of part-time staff; teaching group fitness classes; development, promotion and implementation of programs; coordinating outreach programs for the University and Lincoln communities; and assisting with instruction of an academic course. Some early morning, evening and weekend hours will be required. Position Responsibilities - Teach group fitness classes.
- Assist with instruction of the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Prep class.
- Develop and implement workshops, seminars, and programs.
- Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures including risk management.
- Assist with the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of program staff.
- Assist with payroll and program budget management.
- Contribute to developing staff meetings.
- Participate on Campus Recreation or campus committees.
- Oversee outreach programming with campus and community partners.
- Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, recreation, health education or a related field.
- Admission or ability to be admitted into Graduate School at the University of Nebraska
- Exceptional organizational abilities and effective communication skills.
- Certified by an accredited agency as a Group Fitness Instructor (i.e. ACSM, ACE or AFAA).
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification and Instructor Certification or obtain upon employment.

INJURY PREVENTION & CARE (IPC) Summary & Responsibilities: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has an opening for one graduate student responsible for work cooperatively with the Coordinators of Injury Prevention and Care (ATs) and the Assistant Director for Member Services & Engagement. Graduate Assistant will work at both CREC and RWC facilities as well as other campus recreation spaces. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: clinical evaluation and treatment of campus recreation members, students and guests. Supervision of Injury Prevention and Care Student Staff (IPC) which includes: recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring and staff development. Graduate Assistant will be the primary athletic training supervisor for all home sport club contests. This position is also responsible for assisting with the administration of current programs, completion of payroll, and other projects assigned by the Coordinators of IPC and Assistant Director of Member Services & Engagement. A minimum of 20 hours per week with occasional night and weekend hours is required. Specific responsibilities include: - Administer athletic healthcare coverage, emergency first aid, and CPR to patients in Campus Recreation Facilities and spaces.
- Assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of Injury Prevention and Care Student Staff.
- Act as a preceptor for CAATE accredited academic athletic training students.
- Attend Campus Recreation staff meetings, graduate assistant seminars, staff development conferences, and workshops.
- Assist in scheduling students to regular IPC office hours, sport club activities, intramural sports and other campus recreation programs and events.
- Assist with payroll.
- Prepare for and oversee IPC staff meetings.
- Maintain monthly records and injury tracking system.
- Assist in the budgeting, purchasing, and maintenance of inventory.
- Assist in the development of prevention workshops for Campus Recreation users.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: - Board of Certification for Athletic Training Certified (BOC)
- Nebraska State Athletic Trainer License or eligible upon hire
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or BLS Certified

Primary responsibilities include the following: teaching an academic class; planning, implementing, and evaluating wellness programs; coordinating events in the Wellness Kitchen; and leading outreach programs and presentations for the University and Lincoln communities. Some early morning, evening and weekend hours will be required. Position Responsibilities - Assist in the integration of a university-wide wellness program that includes collaboration between departments/units on campus.
- Assist with coordination and teaching in the Wellness Kitchen.
- Teach a wellness class for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
- Assist team to educate and promote various wellness topics across campus through data driven program development, implementation and evaluation.
- Present on various wellness topics to students, faculty, and staff during outreach events.
- Work with our Marketing and Technology team to promote programs and initiatives.
- Participate in Campus Recreation and/or campus committees, special promotions and events.
- Teach CPR classes and assist with risk management trainings.
- Assist with other administrative duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree or currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Health, Nutrition, Community Wellness, or a related field.

- Hold nationally accredited Fitness and/or Wellness certification(s).
