CENTERS @ Marshall University Graduate Assistants – Multiple Positions Fall 2021
The Marshall Recreation Center is actively seeking dynamic, qualified applicants for multiple Graduate Assistant positions starting fall 2021. All positions require a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field. Supervisory experience in their area is desired. The position is contingent on the applicant’s acceptance to the Marshall University Graduate School. Please see below for a list of the anticipated Graduate Assistant positions.

Graduate Assistants will gain professional experience in staff management, programs, facilities, and budgets while advancing their professional careers. Each position will have varying responsibilities but all will be required to instruct for-credit PEL (Physical Education and Leisure Activity) classes, to ensure a tuition benefit. A tuition waiver is provided for both in-state and out-of-state students. The positions are a 9 month contract beginning August 2, 2021, continuing to April 30, 2022 with the expectation of a 2nd year tenure through spring 2023 based on performance.
A stipend of $11,000 is provided for the 9 month period. This is based on 10 hours of instructing PEL classes during the academic semester and 20 hours of Graduate Assistant work each week. Additional hourly income can be earned within the department. Graduate Assistants are expected to fulfill their GA responsibilities during school breaks however are provided 2 weeks of paid vacation to be taken throughout the year as agreed upon by the GA and direct supervisor
