Assistant Manager – Events and Rentals Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, MA The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) seeks an Assistant Manager - Events and Rentals to provide leadership and management for the evening and weekend operations of DAPER, with a primary focus on planning, coordinating, and supervising events. Responsibilities: - Work in conjunction with MIT departments, students, faculty, staff and external clientele in the planning and management of their events
- Coordinate event support services with all appropriate providers, including catering, audiovisual, and custodial services
- Establish work assignments for staff, attend and supervise events, and compile appropriate data on the usage of facilities relative to events and rentals
- Work as part of the DAPER Operations Team in the stewardship of department-supported programs, services, and buildings
- Provide evening and weekend coordination and contact with the DAPER Facilities Team, Health Fitness Corporation, and Department of Facilities to provide high quality event, rentals, repairs, and custodial support
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree, preferably in a sports-related field
- At least two years of experience in a facilities or operational supervisory role
- Experience in or an in-depth understanding of athletics and recreation that includes direct experience functioning in support of events
- Valid driver’s license
- Current first aid, CPR, and AED certifications or willingness to obtain
- Experience in employee supervision and computer operations
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Attention to details and their impact
- Demonstrated experience with and preference for working collaboratively in support of shared goals
The schedule for the position is Tuesday through Friday 2:00 to 10:00 P.M. and Saturday 7:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M., but must be willing to work a flexible schedule in support of daily operations.
