ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness is currently recruiting interested applicants for multiple graduate assistant openings in Fall 2021.
The priority application deadline for all openings is February 25, 2021 but positions remain open until filled.
Compensation: $10,500 stipend for 9 1/2 months of employment. Full NC resident tuition and student fees included. Out-of-state students are responsible for the difference between non-resident and resident tuition. Many academic programs offer out-of-state waivers based on undergraduate success.
Dates of Employment: August 2, 2021-Dec. 10, 2021; January 3, 2022-May 6, 2022. Opportunities for summer employment prior to, and between, years of service.
Term of Employment: Positions are offered for two-years but are contingent on continued academic success (3.0 GPA) and satisfactory job performance. Positions are contingent on continued availability of auxiliary funds.

Academic Requirements: All graduate assistants must gain acceptance into an ECU graduate program no later than August 2, 2021. Group Fitness Graduate Assistant
Reporting to the Sr. Assistant Director of Fitness the incumbent has the following job responsibilities:
Collaborate with Sr. Assistant Director of Wellness & Fitness, Associate Director of Wellness & Fitness, Campus Recreation and Wellness team members, and student employees/interns to create a culture of well-being by offering world-class movement experiences and events.
Collaborate and coordinate various well-being programs to ECU students located on Main Campus, Health Sciences Campus, Coastal Studies Institute, and distance education.
Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, development, supervision, and evaluation of group fitness instructors, program assistants, and interns
Create, evaluate, update, market, and publish group fitness schedule for a multi-site operation
Evaluate data and provide regular reports on all aspects of the group fitness program.
Teach 2 group fitness classes each week
Serve as a teaching assistant for instructional programs (i.e ACE Group Fitness Instructor Academy).
Create, implement, and evaluate incentive programs related to movement and exercise.
Deliver and present on well-being related topics to constituents on and off campus.
Serve on a work team or as a project manager to one or more well-being related events and programs (i.e. Fresh Check Day, Peace.Love.Pirates.Cure, Pledge Purple, Pleasure Principle, My Pirate Body, 4 What’s Next, American Heart Walk, Pirates Versus Cancer, etc)
Research, create, and copywrite well-being related content for digital and print media.
Assist with marketing, assessment, risk management and technology.
Work in close cooperation with multi-disciplinary staff within CRW, Student Affairs and the campus community.
Attend meetings and participate in workshops held by various units in StudentAffairs.
Serve on various committees asassigned.

Adventure Leadership/Team Training Graduate Assistant (1 or 2 positions)
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Adventure Leadership the incumbent has the following responsibilities:
Organize, schedule, supervise, lead and evaluate trips offered by Adventure Leadership.
Ability to lead local and out of state weekend and overnight Adventure Trips along with student trip leaders.
Ensure adherence to departmental safety/risk management procedures.
Market, organize, develop and implement adventure clinics and trips for on & off campus groups.
Assist with the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of student staff in adventure and team training activities.
Maintain accurate statistical records related to participation, budget, and equipment inventory.
Assist with the supervision and evaluation of undergraduate practicum and internship students placed in the department.
Assist in the promotion of campus recreation events and activities.
Assist in the assessment of campus recreation programs through various research tools.
Coordinate and communicate departmental programs and services to designated student representative groups.
Conduct/instruct clinics, trips and workshops for staff on rental/wall procedures, adventure sports, initiatives, Low Ropes & Odyssey course methods.
Assist in the development of student leaders within Team Training & Adventure.
Utilize computer and web-based programs to coordinate activities.
Experience leading adventure trips
Experience working in an adventure rental center
Experience working at an indoor climbing facility
Experience working with low and high ropes team training initiatives
Wilderness First Responder Certification preferred

Communications and Promotions Graduate Assistant
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications and Promotions the incumbent has the following job responsibilities.
Directly manage and supervise the work of student Marketing Assistants and/or Graphic Designers
Organize, assign, and follow-up of marketing
Coordinate social media, email, press releases, tabling, displays, and other marketing
Entry, analysis and application of assessment and statistical data for marketing
Present at monthly RA Coordinator meetings.
Assist with planning and implementation of the Open House, Barefoot on the Mall and other Special Events
Assist with the development and generation of new marketing concepts, mediums, and ideas
Oversee marketing area operation in including work schedules, inventory, and equipment
Assist with the development and implementation of post program evaluation such as focus groups, online surveys, and forum
Facilitate periodic communication with program area staff to determine needs and monitor
Experience working in marketing and/or graphic design
Experience with managing multiple social media platforms

Facilities Graduate Assistant
Reporting to the Coordinator of Customer Service and Facilities the incumbent has the following job responsibilities:
Participate in the student selection process, supervision, evaluation and payroll oversight for the CRW Facility Managers.
Provide facility supervision in the absence of full time staff at the SRC, North Recreational Complex, Blount Fields and the HSC Recreation and Wellness Center as needed.
Assist with administration of a site supervision plan incorporating facility attendants, facility managers, and other student staff members.
Assist with facility management with an emphasis on large events such as organization fairs, tournaments, etc.
Monitor website and social media to increase visibility of facilities and aquatic/safety services.
Promote CRW facilities, aquatics and safety services through print, electronic, and personal contact (i.e. newsletters, website, open houses, etc.) in a professional manner.
Assist with the CRW assessment administration process to report student engagement. .
Assist with the scheduling/reservations, record keeping and logistical planning of intramural sports, club sports, fitness/group fitness programs, EXSS, Kinesiology, special events, ECU community and Greenville community events that take place at the SRC, NRC and Blount fields.
Assist with administration of Safety Services programs, record keeping and documentation, and departmental risk management.
Professional Development: Participate in activities that will enhance the graduate assistant’s skills and preparation towards future goals.
Attend meetings and participate in workshops held by ECU and Student Affairs.
Serve on various committees as assigned and benchmark with other universities.
Additional Preferred Requirements:
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor Preferred
Experience working with When to Work Scheduling Software Preferred
Experience managing special events preferred
