Campbell University Campus Recreation is accepting applications for four (4) Graduate Assistant positions that will begin in Fall 2021. The priority application deadline for all openings is February 25, 2021 but positions remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted through Bluefish Jobs. Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports - 2 Positions The Graduate Assistant is required to assist with the management of all aspects of Intramural and Club Sports within the Department of Campus Recreation. While jobs and expected performance are delegated to other positions, the Graduate Assistant gives input to all decisions concerning Intramural and Club Sport issues. This position will work collaboratively with the other Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports and will report directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Competitive Sports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist with Administration of Intramural and Club Sport programs.
- Assist with the supervision, hiring, training, and evaluating of Intramural Supervisors and Officials.
- Assist with the advising of Club Sports, Club Sport Council, and Club Sport Council Committees and Executive Boards.
- Assist with the supervision and help administer Club Sport budgets
- Assist with administration of Intramural budget.
- Program multiple intramural sports with differing levels of competition and student participation.
- Plan, organize, supervise, schedule, lead, and evaluate Intramural, Club Sport, and departmental special events.
- Assist with the management of Club Sport documentation (budget, waivers, roster, etc…).
- Help to develop and administer trainings for Club Sport members, officers, coaches, and advisors.
- Manage facility reservation requests for Intramurals and Club Sport programs.
- Assist with providing guidance to Club Sports in developing events, contests, fundraisers, and other activities.
- Present information about Intramurals and Club Sports during campus wide events, New Student Orientation, Admissions Visitation Days and at other promotional opportunities.
- Assist with facilitating regular student staff meetings.
- Inform and enforce Intramural and Club Sport Handbook policies and procedures to students.
- Assist in conducting employee and participant disciplinary conferences.
- Research information for future events, programs, or projects.
- Must maintain regular office hours and be available during those times, unless needed at events.
- Experience training and evaluating student officials in multiple sports including flag football, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and Director of Campus Recreation.
Graduate Assistant for Fitness The Graduate Assistant for Fitness will be at the forefront of enhancing the current fitness program at Campbell University. This person will be responsible for the comprehensive management, administration and supervision of the fitness program within the Department of Campus Recreation. The Graduate Assistant will work within a structured program designed to provide quality experiences for all participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise all fitness staff to include 30 fitness attendants and student managers, 10 group exercise instructors and all contracted service staff.
- Assist in student development programs for all Campus Recreation student staff members.
- Assist in the development and implementation of staff trainings to include risk management, customer service, exercise knowledge, and employee relations.
- Facilitate all fitness center and group exercise staff meetings.
- Assist with policy development and enforcement.
- Communicate with all fitness staff via phone, email, and employee communication logs.
- Stay up-to-date with student employees’ certifications including CPR, First Aid, and any fitness certifications.
- Assist with drilling students on emergency response procedures and coordinating spot checks and customer service drills to weight room supervisors.
- Present information about Campus Recreation and specifically the fitness program during campus wide events such as New Student Orientation, Admissions Visitation Days and at other promotional opportunities
- Assist with facilitating regular student staff meetings
- Assist with the Equipment Maintenance Program to include purchasing parts and reviewing all equipment maintenance log forms, cleaning logs and daily shift report forms.
- Assist in conducting employee and participant disciplinary conferences.
- Research information for future events, programs, or projects.
- Assist other programming areas in the University's Recreation program as needed.
- Develop and implement an employee incentive program.
- Serve as liaison between participants and department.
- Assist in the planning, implementing, scheduling, and evaluating of all programs including group exercise, personal training, fitness orientations, equipment maintenance, weight room management, and special events.
- Manage the daily operations of the weight rooms, cardio areas, and fitness studios.
- Teach at least two group exercise classes or personal training per semester and be readily available to sub as needed.
- Assist with equipment purchases, inventory, maintenance, and inspections.
- Develop and teach Instructor Training Course.
- Provide support for marketing and advertising efforts on campus to include fitness brochures, flyers, posters, list-serve, and mail-outs.
- Assist with Special Events hosted by the Department of Campus Recreation, and/or act as a liaison between the Department of Campus Recreation and the Campbell University community.
- Identify, develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional efforts to educate campus community about programming.
- Must maintain regular office hours and be available during those times, unless needed at events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Fitness and Wellness.
Graduate Assistant for Facilities and Student Development The Graduate Assistant is responsible for the scheduling of all Campus Recreation facilities. They will also be tasked with creating student development trainings and opportunities for Campus Recreation student staff. This position will work collaboratively with the other Graduate Assistants as well as professional staff members in Campus Recreation. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining the department’s social media accounts, editing website content and representing the department both on and off campus. Also responsible for scheduling and daily management of undergraduate marketing team and assisting with departmental special events. The assistant reports to the Director of Campus Recreation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the facilities, including payroll, operating supplies, moving and maintaining equipment, processing work orders, supervising student staff, and performing daily check-ins to the facilities.
- Manage facility reservation requests for all Campus Recreation facilities that includes: Carter Gym, Holding Fitness Center, Melvin Outdoor Courts, and the Intramural Fields using Fusion software.
- Identify facility needs and order supplies for specific program areas.
- Assist with the planning, organization, schedules, and reservations for all Intramural, Club Sport, Fitness, and departmental special events.
- Present information about Campus Recreation during campus wide events, New Student Orientation, Admissions Visitation Days and at other promotional opportunities.
- Research information and implement future events, programs, or projects for Campus Recreation and collaborating with other departments on campus.
- Maintain social media platforms. Ensure all marketing materials and facility information is current and campus-wide.
- Responsible for scheduling and overseeing student marketing team and hiring students for these positions.
- Assist with the hiring and training of fitness and intramural staff and assist with schedule coverage or assume responsibility for filling in if necessary.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the department’s web pages.
- Implement professional development opportunities for Campus Recreation student staff.
- Must maintain regular office hours and be available during those times, as well as attend and assist at events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Fitness and Wellness.
