Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan, including marketing strategies and initiatives for the department and individual program areas
Educate and guide professional and student staff regarding effective, appropriate and current marketing strategies
Create and maintain a unified identity for all facility signage, displays, and postings
Serve as the liaison with the university marketing team
Direct the management and oversight of department and university brand and style guidelines across all areas
Oversee the Campus Recreation website
Manage digital and web content through entire lifecycle, including writing, editing, revising, approving, scheduling, publishing and reporting
Maintain site standards and brand guidelines
Collaborate with content contributors
Conceptualize, create and produce web pages in university CMS.
Coordinate promotional efforts for the department, with an emphasis on consistency of message, brand development, and creating a sense of belonging
Direct and supervise the design, procurement, production (including final-product proof) and dissemination of all marketing collateral
Utilize on-line and off-line marketing channels, including print, web, social media and direct advertising
Collaborate with programming staff to develop targeted promotions
Coordinate the design, purchase, and dissemination of branded promotional items
Oversee social media efforts
Work with student staff to conceptualize and produce shareable content across multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
Analyze and report on effectiveness of digital content
Collaborate with staff to develop a calendar for social media content, with a focus on belonging and storytelling
Monitor and engage in social conversations on campus partners’ social platforms
Staff Supervision
Recruit, hire, train, mentor and supervise the 4-6 student creative team, including graphic designers, social media team, and photographer/videographer
Provide appropriate leadership, challenge and support to help student staff grown and develop
Process biweekly payroll
Lead efforts to utilize student staff as department ambassadors (serving to educate, inform, and inspire participation in Campus Recreation participation opportunities)
Serve as a resource to the student editor of the department newsletter
Site Specific Responsibilities:
Campus and Community Outreach
Initiate and/or assist in leading Campus Recreation involvement at campus orientations, information fairs, and other campus events
Seek avenues for increasing department visibility within the university and the community (ex. Family Nights)
Communicate with partner departments and student groups
Assist staff in developing revenue-generating programs and sponsorships for events, facilities and programs
Assessment & Evaluations
Assess effectiveness of targeted promotional efforts
Analyze and report on the effectiveness of digital content
Use Google Analytics to report on the effectiveness of web pages
Monitor and engage in social conversations on campus partners’ social platforms
Facilitate and/or assist with the annual member satisfaction survey
Assist staff with efforts to evaluate programs, services and facilities
Conduct periodic focus groups regarding programs, services, and facilities
Assist staff with market research as needed, particularly with identifying special events and activities that will attract new student users
Stay abreast of current trends in marketing; proactively share information with staff.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit regular reports, including quarterly reports, the annual report, and participation reports
Oversee the marketing budget, including student payroll, advertising, promotional items, and printing
Attend office, staff, and departmental meetings as scheduled
Create, develop and enforce administrative policies and procedures as they relate to Marketing
Actively participate in professional development opportunities

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field
2 years of demonstrated marketing experience in planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating marketing programs, university scholastic setting preferred
Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills and editing abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Mac programs and HTML is helpful

Demonstrable mastery of strategic communications through shareable social media content, writing/editing across applications
Some knowledge of HR theories and best practices in recruitment and staff development
Basic accounting knowledge; capability of understanding budgets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with design software
Human Relations: Internal contacts include staff at all levels. External contacts include external customers and vendors. Contact involves troubleshooting, informing, exchanging information, negotiating, making recommendations, and giving information or instructions.
