Position Description
Position: Graduate Assistant of Competitive Sports
Supervisor:Assistant Director of Competitive Sports
Compensation:$13.16 per hour plus tuition waiver
Contract:Summer 2021 – August 31, 2022,with an option to renew based on annual performance evaluations.
Work Schedule: Max of 19 hours per week when class is in session. Max of 39.5 hours per week when class is not in session. Typical operations are from 6 pm – 12 pm Monday – Thursday. Special events may fall outside normal operations.
Responsible Supervision: Provides guidance, leadership, or training to other employees.
Essential Duties
Assist with advising of Club Sports that includes club activities, club finances, hosted events, special events, and travel.
Assist with policy development.
Assist with scheduling of sport programs as well as Intramural Supervisor and Official weekly schedules.
Assist with special events. (Back to School Bash, Rec the Night, and others.)
Assist with the evaluating, hiring, and training of Officials and Intramural Supervisors.
Attend and conduct captain’s meetings for all intramural sports.
Attend bi-weekly professional staff meetings.
Conduct, evaluate, promote, and supervise intramural sport programs.
Daily office hours and supervise nightly activities as needed.
Develop marketing posters for all intramural sports.
Field maintenance upkeep such as cleaning facilities and painting fields.
Inventory and maintenance all equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to learn and practice specific safety guidelines for all program areas.
Ability to train, develop, and supervise Intramural Supervisors and Officials.
A positive attitude toward the University and its constituents.
Desire to help diverse groups of people.
Genuine enthusiasm, interest, and commitment to experiential education.
Must be able to make decisions for everyday and emergency situations.
Strong leadership, organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
Education/Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree
Experience in intramural sports
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in club sports.
Experience officiating at the high school, intramural, or recreational league level.
Experience with Fusion, IMLeagues, and Microsoft Teams.
Knowledge of industry safety standards.
Knowledge of recreational facilities.
Knowledge of sports offered by the Department.
