The Coordinator of Fitness is responsible for the oversight and management of fitness and wellbeing areas as they relate to staff management and program planning. This position will manage personal training, group fitness classes, F45 Training, and other fitness and wellbeing programming.
Core Responsibilities:
Directly manage a comprehensive fitness and wellbeing program to include: personal training, UFit group fitness classes, F45 Training, and other fitness and wellbeing programming
Recruit, hire, train, schedule and actively mentor student and part-time staff in areas of responsibility
Provide managerial and leadership experiences in program operations and create and promote professional development opportunities
Develop and implement continuing education and training for fitness and wellness staff
Assist in the coordination of purchasing, inventorying, and maintenance of fitness equipment as needed
Serve as group fitness instructor of personal trainer as needed
Oversee and develop a comprehensive fitness and wellness program in line with the mission of the university and department
Administrative Responsibilities:
Responsible for the operating, preparation, forecasting and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to the fitness and wellness area
Develop and revise administrative policies and procedures within the areas of responsibility
Assess effectiveness and satisfaction of programs, services and facilities
Prepare regular written communication such as monthly and annual reports, financial and participation reports, and equipment inventory reports as needed
Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for staff, including professional association involvement, training programs, and individual mentoring
Build strong partnerships on campus and with vendors
Provide direction and oversight in accordance with the mission and goals of the department, division, and university
Complete comprehensive analytical and statistical reports regarding fitness and wellness patron participation
Oversee the Graduate Assistance of Fitness
Site Specific Responsibilities:
Schedule and/or instruct fitness and personal training certification workshops through national organizations
Work with the Coordinator of Facility Operations on scheduling programs within the facility
Work with the facilities team to stay updated on operational aspects of the fitness studios and fitness center spaces
Responsible for the management and inventory of all fitness and personal training equipment and supplies
Work with Assistant Director of Marketing and Membership on program area marketing needs and requests
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
At least two years of experience within campus recreation programming preferred
Demonstrated experience within fitness and personal training areas
Strong communication and presentation skills
Leadership and supervisors abilities
Ability to work as part of, and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
Analytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives and render consistent, logical decisions
Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle choices
Previous experience in personal training or teaching group fitness classes preferred.
