In 1950, our founder Dr. William Wasson had the foresight to gather recreation leaders from 11 HBCU’s to begin what would become NIRSA. The sharing of ideas, professional development, research, and comradery continues today.
At NIRSA, we honor our history while looking towards the future. We are looking for an exceptional Director of Marketing to help create that future with us. We have a staff of 25 located primarily in Corvallis, Oregon and increasingly throughout the U.S.
As the Director of Marketing, your role is to ensure our story is told so that we can fulfill our mission to be a leader in higher education and the advocate for the advancement of recreation, sport, and wellbeing.
To be successful in this role you will: • Develop tactical marketing campaigns and strategies to promote NIRSA’s various products and services resulting in increased audience engagement, registrations or sales revenue • Develop communication and product positioning strategies to align NIRSA products and services with audience feedback and value • Manage the marketing department by leading a team of three talented marketing and communications professionals while partnering with other colleagues throughout the organization to ensure marketing campaigns are delivered on time with the highest of standards • Identify and delegate all marketing tactics needed to be completed within a marketing campaign, while also rolling up your sleeves to write copy, program an email, update a webpage, post a Tweet, etc. as needed • Use data analytics to learn about past campaigns to inform future decisions • Coordinate, manage and prioritize marketing campaigns and requests from department leaders and NIRSA staff members. • Thrive on developing a team and be committed to creating an inclusive work environment.
Your background will include most of the experiences and skills listed below: • Bachelor’s in Marketing or Business or equivalent • 5+ years of relevant experience in a member association, mission-based or similar organization • Proven project management experience • Proven marketing strategy, campaign development and implementation experience • Exceptional communications skills, including copywriting • Experience with or the ability to learn Informz, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Teams, Google Analytics.

Additional Salary Information: What you can expect from NIRSA:

• NIRSA will make a 401k contribution of 14% of your salary comprised of 3% safe harbor + 11% discretionary (which has been awarded for the past 10+ years). 401k eligibility is after your first year and 1,000 hours.
