Bellarmine University invites applications for the Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director has the primary responsibility to help support the goals of the department and division by providing a vision for a campus wide comprehensive recreation and wellness programs for students, faculty, and staff. The director implements strategies which enhance student engagement in wellness initiatives including access to facilities, programming, club sports, and intramurals.
This position is full-time, 12 month position; office hours are negotiable. Some evening and weekend hours are required. The job location is at the Bellarmine University Campus, Recreation and Wellness Center (SuRF).
Responsible for overall management, philosophy, vision, assessment, and strategic planning for the campus recreation and wellness programs.
Supervise student employees, hourly staff, Associate Director for Campus Wellness, and Assistant Director for Club Spots and Intramurals including selection, training, scheduling and evaluation in addition to tracking payroll.
Oversee facility maintenance including management of maintenance contractors for facility an equipment; submit and monitor completion of work requests to University Facilities Management Department and coordination of cleaning and equipment repairs.
Collaborate with students and other campus stakeholders to implement recreation and wellness programs and intramural programs to engage student, faculty, and staff.
Manage alumni and other fitness center memberships and maintain data bases
Administer budgets including oversight of all purchasing and inventory maintenance
Implement communication strategies to constituents through website and social media
Offer logistical support to athletic department, campus groups, and offices utilizing facility for events and practices
Actively work with student committees to develop and implement student programs as well as determine student needs
Provide on-site emergency response as needed
All other duties as assigned
Masters degree required. A minimum of two years college recreation/sport work or related experience required in addition to one year of management/supervisory experience. Administrative and computer skills required. Attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills and ability to multi-task are also required. Some lifting is needed (weight does not typically exceed 50 pounds).
Must be able to work with a minimum level of supervision and make independent decisions; yet know when supervisory assistance is required. Decisions may be related to more complex matters within established policies and procedures and the decisions made by the position will affect the work of others in the department as well as the University as a whole.
