The Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness provides dynamic, hands-on leadership for all fitness and wellness needs of Campus Recreation. This position requires an individual with proven leadership experience capable of working on a fast-paced, results-oriented team. A vital component of this position is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking, as well as a strong commitment to student development, collaboration, and customer service.
Provide direction and oversight for fitness and wellness revenue-generating programs that include personal and small group training, premium instruction classes, and customized fitness as well as complimentary group fitness classes, and mental health programming.
Develop and execute short- and long-term plans and goals that successfully achieve the mission of fitness, wellness and the department.
Provide primary leadership for fitness floor operations at the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) and the Fitness Center (FC).
Provide primary oversight for either group fitness and customized fitness or personal training and instructional class programming and staff.
Research, develop and implement new programs and services based on industry trends and university needs.
Provide oversight for CSI member management components including scheduler, program registration, reports, and series sales.
Develop and meet revenue and expense budgets.
Coordinate payroll for student, contract and/or adjunct staff for primary areas.
Work with the Program Manager to develop recommendations for the repair and replacement of fitness equipment.
Maintain and grow partnerships with university and non-university colleges, departments and groups.
Partner with Member Services to maximize member recruitment and retention efforts.
Maintain accurate participant and program data and compile usage reports. Evaluate program offerings using satisfaction/interest surveys, participation statistics, and feedback.
Develop, evaluate, and revise policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe and effective environment, programming and services.
Work with marketing department to plan, design, and distribute marketing pieces, website updates, etc.
Direct and maintain excellent member and visitor services and relations.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Current certification from an accredited organization such as ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or NASM.
Three (3) years of relevant experience.
Previous supervisory experience.
