The Assistant Director - Aquatic Programs and Safety Education will report to and work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Aquatics, to develop, oversee, and administer a comprehensive and progressive aquatic programs and certification services that meet the demands of the university community. In tandem, you will also promote our mission to include personnel and fiscal management, inventory control, program development and promotion, and develop and cultivate relationships with campus and non-campus constituents. The successful candidate will deliver recreation and wellness programs designed to promote teamwork, active lifestyles, and leadership skills, as well as, contribute to the preparations and management of athletic and recreation events. The Assistant Director will plan, schedule and coordinate all program activities. Participate in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures while collaborating with the integrated communications team to market programs. Additionally, the AD will conduct regular assessments of programs to measure effectiveness, and implement new initiatives based on industry trends and participate in budget allocation and program outreach efforts.
Bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management, hospitality management or related area.
Two years of relevant experience in aquatic management, staff supervision, programming, or instruction.
Graduate experience will be considered.
American Red Cross LGI, WSI Certification.
Ability to independently manage all aspects of comprehensive aquatics programming; establish vision and strategies that will contribute to the development of a quality and innovative program.
Knowledge of risk management issues in aquatics and recreation.
Must show ability to establish long and short term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
Ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs.
Self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills.
Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.)
American Red Cross LGIT, WSIT, FA/CPR/AED Instructor Trainer, Certified Pool Operator certification, or the ability to obtain these certifications within one year of employment.
