| The function and purpose is to assist in the organization and administration of fitness and well-being programs, supervision of fitness staff, and management of equipment & resources. This position is critical to the overall mission of the department. This position plays a critical role in the yearly production of fitness efforts for University Recreation. Job Description: 35% Program Coordination and Training: Administer, create, and coordinate group fitness classes (in-person and virtual), specialty courses/programs, private tennis lessons, and On-Demand fitness and well-being programs; Assist in teaching and instructing group fitness classes and On-Demand fitness and well-being programs; Create and administer Fitness & Well-Being special programs and events; Establish and coordinate fitness certifications and certification prep courses; Develop and implement accurate written records (manuals, etc.) that guide program operations; Develop learning outcomes and conduct program assessments; Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and annual statistical reports; Assist with university-wide collaboration and outreach efforts. 25% Personnel Management: Direct supervision of Fitness & Well-Being Group Fitness Instructors, Tennis Instructors, and Program Assistant; Oversee the hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation process for Fitness & Well-Being Group Fitness Instructors, Tennis Instructors, and Program Assistant; Assist in the hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation process for Fitness & Well-Being employees: Fitness Supervisors, Fitness Assistants, and Personal Trainers; Recommend personnel for advancement, raises, rehire, and/or dismissal; Administer and create weekly newsletters and/or other educational opportunities for all instructors. 20% Fiscal & Resource Management: Assist with developing annual operating budget; Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for program operations; Recommend approval for all fees pertaining to participation in the offered programs; Monitor sound fiscal operational budget; Ensure all fitness and instructional program equipment is safe and usable; Manage inventory control to prevent equipment loss; Purchase equipment necessary to keep up with industry standards; Assist in the reporting of all preventative maintenance and equipment repairs. 20% Program & Professional Involvement: Provide feedback regarding departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor; Be active professionally through research, publications, presentations, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for various University/community functions, committee work, and other duties as assigned; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the department’s culture of teamwork; Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality outcomes that contribute to student success; Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion; Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need. |
