Graduate Assistant of Intramurals & Sport Clubs:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Intramurals & Sport Clubs, this person is responsible for assisting in the planning, development and implementation of the intramural and sport club programs. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Promote, market, schedule, and evaluate team and individual/dual sports
Conduct rule meetings for Intramural team captains and participants
Assist in program evaluation and development of rules, policies and procedures
Mentor approximately 10 Intramural Supervisors per semester in regards to the policies, expectations, and goals of the program
Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate student employees
Develop sport officials’ training clinics
Produce reports for Sport Clubs activities, including correspondence with student staff and Sport Clubs officer/participants
Promote, market, recruit, schedule, and evaluate the Sport Clubs program
Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student staff
Conduct Sport Clubs Council Meetings and advisor, president and officer trainings
Assist in program evaluation and development of clubs, policies and procedures
Research & development of new sport clubs
Coordinate with club officers to schedule practices/matches
Manage roster, liability, and all travel forms
Communicate frequently with participants regarding participation feedback
Create staff development opportunities
Manage student payroll, policy development, and the equipment inventory/purchasing process as necessary
Manage the maintenance of indoor/outdoor sports equipment and facilities
Assist with Wellness Center activities, campus wide events, student services special events
Assist in all related administrative duties
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Admission into USD graduate program; Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills; Current Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications (or able to obtain them within the first month of employment); Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum 9 hours per semester) to receive graduate assistantship, stipend, and tuition waivers
Preferred Qualifications: One year intramural sports work experience (scorekeeper, supervisor, or official); Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of sports (flag-football, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, etc.); High school officiating certification; Participation in one or more extramural tournaments; Experience in the administration of a Sport Club Program; Demonstrated ability to train team sport officials; involvement in related professional organizations including NIRSA; Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification.
Term of Contract:
August 22nd – May 21st ; with the possible summer employment. Evaluation at the end of the first term is required before second year appointment.
Two-thirds in/out of state tuition waiver plus a stipend of $10,000/year (employee is responsible for student fees).

Job Title: Graduate Assistant of Esports Opening
The University of South Dakota is currently seeking a Graduate Assistant to support the newly launched Esports Arena on campus. The Esports Operations Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Director of Intramurals, Sport Clubs and Esports, and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Esports Arena, student staff, and serve as an advisor for the Esports Club. This includes the successful coordination of Esports events, practices, and match broadcasting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination of the schedule for the Esports Arena including practices, classes, open time, etc.
Attendance and operation management of all Esports events (on and off campus)
Develop and coordinate the student workers program including the hiring, training and review of student employees
Work with the Assistant Director and President of the Esports Club to coordinate operations policies for the Arena
Coordinate the successful production of all events and programs
Act as a liaison between the University and the local community by coordinating clinics/camps/events
Enrollment in a Graduate Degree program at the University of South Dakota
Knowledge of technology utilized in Esports productions (Twitch, Discord, Challonge, Streamlabs OBS etc.)
Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA Certification, or willingness to obtain one
Knowledge of Collegiate Esports
Strong understanding of event coordination
20-25 hours a week (schedule to be determined by the Assistant Director and can vary depending on event schedules)
Nights, weekends and travel are required
