University of Vermont (UVM) Campus Recreation is accepting applications for Fitness Programs Coordinator (a 36-week (early August-mid-May) position).
The mission of UVM Campus Recreation is to make student participation in recreational activities an essential component of their UVM experience. Assist in the administration and management of all operational and programming aspects of a comprehensive fitness program. The coordinator's main functions are administrative duties, which includes staff and program management for group fitness. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising and training student and non-student staff (approximately 65 total staff), group fitness schedule and reservation management, evaluating staff, studio monitoring, equipment inventory/maintenance, and planning and implementing special event activities. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Essential Areas of Responsibility:
Work directly with Assistant Director, Fitness Programs to develop and manage all daily operations and services of fitness programming and associated member services
Hire, train, evaluate, schedule and manage fitness operations support staff and group fitness instructors
Collaborate with Assistant Director, Fitness Programs to plan, coordinate, and implement all staff trainings and meetings
Manage programming and staffing using online scheduling software and reservation software
Support the Assistant Director, Fitness Programs in monitoring and managing program payroll and wage budget
Equipment and studio management, organization and supervision
Plan, coordinate, implement, and manage special events
Communicate with group fitness pass members
Assist with basic website updates
Attend professional staff meetings and other training sessions
Opportunities to teach 1-3 group fitness classes and/or train 1-3 clients per a week
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, Physical Education, Health and Wellness or related field experience required
Applicants must be dedicated, detail-oriented, professional, organized and self-motivated with a strong work ethic, solid decision-making and communication skills, and outstanding leadership skills
Experience with computer programs such as Excel, Word, Publisher, SharePoint, web publishing software, staff scheduling software (e.g., When to Work) and program management software (i.e., Rec Trac and Club Count)
Current Group Fitness, Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning or Health Fitness Specialist (e., ACE, NASM, AFAA and/or ACSM) certification(s)
Current CPR/First Aid and AED certification
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Applicants have experience with administrative tasks and training and managing staff
Applicants are experienced and confident in completing client fitness assessments, experience with movement screening, exercise prescription, and training clients and/or experience teaching a variety of group exercise classes and/or training clients
Experience organizing and leading special events
