University Recreation (UREC) is accepting applications for an Assistant Director for Intramural Sports and Youth Programs.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in the UREC Intramural Sports and Youth Programs areas. This position will supervise, train and mentor a full-time coordinator, graduate assistant and large, diverse student staff (including site managers, crew chiefs, officials, and youth programs staff). Develops and maintains an innovative and comprehensive Intramural Sports program to meet the needs of a variety of skill levels and interests and consistent with University Recreation values and programming philosophy. Establishes learning outcomes based upon identified student needs, design appropriate interventions, and conduct assessments for programs. Plan, implement, and coordinate Youth Program offerings for the department including the management of a summer camp program. This position is a member of the collaborative UREC programming unit and serves on the facility supervision team. This position has significant budget, administrative, and risk management responsibilities.
Salary: Commensurate with experience with full Commonwealth of Virginia faculty benefit package. This is a 12-month full time administrative and professional faculty position with excellent benefits including 24 days of annual leave and 12 paid holidays along with a professional development stipend.
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Two or more years of relevant full-time experience (a graduate assistantship would be considered ½ year of experience per year)
Experience training sport officials
Experience managing sports programming
Experience in part-time staff hiring, training and supervision
Master’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management or related field
Experience in student/part-time staff hiring, training and supervision in a campus recreation setting
Experience in youth recreation
Experience establishing learning outcomes and conducting assessments for programs
