The Coordinator of Facilities and Member Services is responsible for the functional operations of the Recreational Sports and Services (RSS) Facilities and Member Services student staff. It is also responsible for the daily operations of the Member Services Center. This position serves as the first point of contact to patrons for sales and service of memberships; program registrations; locker, towel and equipment rentals and personal training. This position is expected to ensure the delivery of positive patron and visitor interactions with RSS. This position serves as the night and weekend facility manager. All facilities staff will be supervised, trained and scheduled by this position.
Directly responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, delegating tasks and supervising RSS Facility Department and the Member Services Center student staff.
Provide leadership and management of the Student Recreation Center including staffing, Member Services Center, policies & procedures, ensuring a high-level of customer service to patrons and guests sales and renewal issues during night and weekend hours.
Sells directly or supervises the sale or renewal, using the point of sale system (Fusion), for memberships; locker and equipment rentals; registration for programs and special events and personal training both in person and over the phone.
Provides student staff developmental training.
Assists in maintaining departmental risk management plan and trainings.
Works collaboratively with individuals who are internal and external to RSS to include but are not limited to RSS employees/colleagues, students, patrons, University contacts, visitors, etc.
Represents RSS Facilities Department at special events and meetings as determined by the Assistant Director of Facilities or Director.
Expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times that corresponds with the mission, vision and values of RSS.
Works other duties as assigned
Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, RSS membership types and eligibility; programs and services; enrollment periods; and pricing of all memberships, programs and products that are available; and RSS indoor and outdoor
Experience training campus recreation student staff plus knowledge of how to develop and deliver outstanding customer service
Some basic knowledge of Human Re source theories and best practices in recruitment and staff
Basic risk management principles and training of
Basic accounting knowledge; capability of understanding budgets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and/or Excel).
Experience using a recreation-based point of sale system. Experience using lnnosoft's "Fusion" software a
Experience using a reservation software/system (EMS).
Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, RSS and university cash handling procedures.
Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, RSS and university policies and
Availability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed and/or required
Any one of the following, from the categories below:
Master’s degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field)
Final semester or completed Graduate Assistantship with campus recreation or similar department performing duties for two (2) academic years consistent in area of specialization inherent to the position. *
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, or closely related field) AND One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in the promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs.
4 years (48 months) of work experience in promotion, design, development, and/or administration of recreational programs, intercollegiate athletics, campus recreation, park district or similar organization that provides similar program.
*Note: Students in the final semester of a Master’s Degree program, may be allowed to complete a credential examination and will receive full consideration, including being interviewed. An offer may be extended with understanding that proof of degree based on institution is provided to the employing institution Human Resources Office at least two weeks before the proposed start date.
