The Recreation Operations Program Manager manages recreation and wellness programs and activities at the University of Portland's Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center. Focus of this position is on fitness programming, facility operations, front desk management, and student development.
The Recreation Operations Program Manager interacts with students, faculty and staff while leading the front desk operations and fitness programming. Responsibilities include hiring and developing fitness instructors, front desk staff and weight room staff; scheduling and evaluating staff in these positions; developing fitness schedule; updating the Rec Services website with program and facility information; marketing programs; providing budgetary information to Director and working within budget allocations; coordinating accounting practices for front desk operations; performing roles within equipment maintenance program and facility safety program; encouraging diversity within work force through recruiting, support, and promotion practices; working with Director of Recreational Services and Outdoor Pursuits Program Manager to provide the university community with a diverse and welcoming Recreation & Wellness program.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position with benefits. 3 years of experience in relevant area or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
Current certification in CPR or ability to obtain certification close in time to start of position.
Preferred: Current instructor's certification in one or more of the following areas – nutrition, CPR, indoor cycling, yoga, zumba, pilates, dance, or weight training.
Strong orientation towards taking initiative and ownership of projects and assignments and being proactive with projects, assignments, and process improvements; strong ability in following through with and completing projects.
