Augustana University invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Intramural Coordinator in the Recreational Services department.
As the Graduate Assistant Intramural Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Recreational Services in managing the recreational opportunities for the entire campus as well as managing the recreational facility. The schedule for this position varies based on program needs and activities. It will involve day, night and weekend hours.
The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Effectively market/promote the intramural program to the Augustana community.
Work closely with the recreational services student staff by attending and providing oversight for door to doors, residence hall promotional events, champ nights, and other campus promotional events.
Develop and strengthen relationships with key administrators and students on campus to enhance the awareness and involvement of the campus community in recreation and intramural programs.
Work with other recreational services coordinators and student staff to promote the recreation and intramural programs through a variety of mechanisms;(annual calendar, flyers, bulletin boards, posters, web page, social media)
Serve as the main contact person for the intramural program.
Oversee and direct all intramural activities, to include late night activities, special event programs.
Directly manage the office aspect of the intramural program.
Develop and coordinate the schedule for all intramural activities.
Oversee and enhance the communication aspect of our intramural program.
Play a leadership role in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of intramural staff in the recreational services department.
Assist with other aspects of the Recreational Services programs and facility management as needed.
Qualifications for this position:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation, or related field.
Certification in American Red Cross 1st Aid, CPR, AED
Computer skills required for word processor, spread sheets, and data bases.
Experience scheduling intramural leagues and tournaments.
Experience developing and maintaining web pages preferred.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
