Assists with development, implementation, and evaluation of all Fitness & Wellness programs, services, and special events. Directly oversees multiple fitness programming areas and staff. Provides instruction for group exercise classes (in need of an instructor or sub); provides training with clients (in need of a trainer). Assists with payroll and equipment purchases. Oversees and provides training (with Facility Operations staff) for fitness floor staff and supervisors. Assists with implementation and evaluation of emergency action plan, risk management policies and practices for fitness & wellness programming, services, and facility areas. Assists with other duties as assigned.
Please note: Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Assist with the design, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of personal training services and private yoga and Pilates. Primarily responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of trainers and instructors. Oversee initial fitness assessments and consultations with clients. Conduct training sessions as deemed necessary with high risk clients.
Manage the development, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of fitness assessments and consultations with members and students. Conduct (cardiovascular and strength training) equipment orientations, and educate students and members on fitness programs, services, and opportunities available.
Assist with day-to-day operations with group exercise classes and private classes.
Assist Facility Operations staff in training fitness floor staff and supervisors on equipment fundamentals and reinforcement of facility policies.
Oversee and prepare payroll report (biweekly) for personal trainers and group exercise staff.
Assist with meeting budget goals on an annual basis.
Conduct on-campus presentations to educate and promote fitness programs/services to students, faculty, staff and university community.
Assist with private and special events (Wildcat Welcome, University Health Fair, Kellogg executive events, Member Appreciation events - Fall/Winter Health & Fitness Fests, and National Physical Fitness & Sport Month).
Stay abreast of current market trends and concerns affecting the health and fitness industry.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with Bachelor's in exercise science or related field required. Master’s degree in exercise science or related field desired.
Minimum 2 years related work experience.
National Accredited Certification(s) in Personal Training and Group Exercise
