The Events and Operations Coordinator independently manages the overall operations of the Klotsche Center and Pavilion facilities and programs during the weekday and weekend second and third shift operations for the Department of University Recreation (UREC). This position is responsible for the management and coordination of Klotsche Center, Pavilion, Engelmann Gym, Athletic Department, UW-Milwaukee and community special events, which often take place on weekends and evenings. The position provides quality facility and program services as well as development opportunities for the UWM student community. This is a supervisory and management position with development opportunities for advancement in the University Recreation profession. This position must act often without assistance from the Director or Associate Director. The individual in this position must be able to use judgment and discretion to implement policies and manage an ever-changing university environment, including emergency situations, with efficiency and effectiveness but without direct supervision. The individual must be flexible, especially in terms of hours worked since late evening and early morning work will be a necessity. A commitment to student development and providing a quality university experience are paramount to the success of this position.
General Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 11:45am to 8:15pm.
Collegiate games may be played on holidays/breaks/weekdays and weekends.
Attendance for events may require arrival 4 hours prior to the event start and as much as 4 hours after event end.
Bachelor’s degree or minimum of four (4) years professional work experience.
Current or expired First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Professional or Graduate Assistantship experience in recreation or recreational sports.
Experience with recreation and athletic facility management.
Experience staffing facility and athletic events for multiple locations.
Experience with facility emergency action planning and conflict management.
Experience with facility software and/or security software.
Supervisory experience of students in a higher education environment.
Evidence of an ability to coordinate and liaison with other stakeholders to maintain collaborative relationships in a multipurpose facility.
Experience setting up athletic events (basketball, volleyball, track, swimming, etc.).
