The Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness is responsible for staffing, teaching, and managing a comprehensive fitness and wellness program for Campus Recreation the University of Pennsylvania. Responsibilities include the daily management of group exercise, personal training, and premium fitness operations, with emphasis placed on instruction, recruiting, and supervision of its programs and instructors. The Coordinator will hire, train and schedule staff as well as teach an average of 10 classes/personal training sessions per week.
In addition to the operations and staffing of Fitness & Wellness Programming, the Coordinator will assist with fitness-based member incentive and retention programs.
Manage Group Exercise, Personal Training, and Premium Fitness Programs. Coordinate class schedules for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Oversee the hiring, training, and evaluation of all fitness & wellness staff.
Lead an average of 10 group exercise and/or Penn FIT/PT classes per week.
Manage comprehensive Personal Training Program with Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness. Conduct exercise prescriptions and personal training for fitness center members as needed.
Prepare sales reports, participation data, and projections for all fitness & wellness programs. Prepare and administer payroll for all fitness & wellness staff.
Develop and implement effective marketing and promotional strategies for all fitness & wellness programs. Including, but not limited to, in-person consultations and presentations, active presence in facility, content creation for print, social media, email, and website, and partner outreach.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
A Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, Exercise Science, Athletic/Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Business Administration and/or related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and progressive professional experience in collegiate recreation required.
Accredited (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, etc.) Personal Training and Group Fitness Instructor certification required.
Experience in establishing and facilitating strategic goals, developing and implementing policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience in program data management, fiscal integrity and transparency.
Ability to teach and develop a strong emphasis on student development philosophy and a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and creating an environment of inclusion.
Excellent written communication skills; ability to write concise, logical reports and hold engaging conversations with community members and have a presence among membership.
Proficient in computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and other software.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.
