Direct supervision of extensive training and in-service meetings for lifeguard staff; Development and implementation of staff trainings and meetings for staff; Direct supervision lifeguard staff, including scheduling and corrective counseling; Collaborating work with UREC Human Resources following all hiring protocols; Assigns appropriate lifeguard staff for events.
25% Facility Operations:
Assist with supervision of pool operations for 3 pools; (Indoor lap, Outdoor lap, Outdoor Leisure River) Including water chemistry, safety, and cleanliness.
Support the enforcement of administrative and operational policies and procedures; Develop and maintain accurate records and annual reports; Assist with purchasing, maintenance, and inventory of equipment.
Assist with programming of scuba; Assist with administration of extensive training and in-service meetings for all aquatic staff; Support the administering of our American Red Cross curriculum as direct by Assistant Director.
10% Program & Professional Involvement:
Provide feedback and support regarding departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor;
Be active professionally through research, publications, presentations, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for various University/community functions, committee work, and other duties as assigned; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the department’s culture of teamwork;
Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality;
Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion;
Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need.
Bachelor’s degree 1-year experience Previous work experience in aquatic management.
Master’s degree 2-4 years’ experience Work experience with indoor & outdoor aquatic facilities, including lifeguard hiring and training, planning in-service programming, maintenance of pools and operational experience, swim lessons experience, and additional aquatic certifications (CPO/AFO, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety, etc.)
SPECIAL OR PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The ability to work flexible hours as well as the ability to lift 50 pounds.
