Oklahoma State University is seeking an energetic, innovative, student-centered leader for the position of Coordinator Facility Operations & Student Development. We seek an individual with proven leadership experience capable of working in a fast-paced, results-oriented team. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations.
The candidate will provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operations of Oklahoma State University Department of Wellness facilities to include all Department of Wellness facilities with an emphasis on providing a safe, well-maintained and proficiently staffed environment. This position will provide oversight, instruction and development of students and manage schedules, and services. This position will provide supervision to include hiring, training, discipline, and evaluation of the positions of Facility Supervisors, Facility Attendants, and Graduate Assistant of Operations. This position will oversee the Department of Wellness facility operations including access control, facility tours, inventory, facility counts, towel service, cleaning of equipment, fitness floor staff supervision, equipment checkout, and the supervision of special events. The position will also assist in the student development efforts for all Department of Wellness Student employees throughout the year.
Specific responsibilities include:
Oversee guest services including equipment checkout and stocking equipment inventory, towel checkout, fitness floor supervision, facility counts, equipment orientations, facility tours, and point of sale transactions.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate facility operations staff to include, Facility Assistants, and Graduate Assistant of Operations. Approximately 110 students annually.
Provide on-going student development sessions throughout the year.
Manage Department of Wellness Online Canvas Student Development portal.
Ensure all facilities operate within required risk management procedures and oversee the implementation of standardized safety practices.
Oversee compliance with Oklahoma State University and applicable national standards and regulations.
Coordinate student staff in-service trainings specific to emergency, accident and incident protocols. Recommend changes to emergency action plan as needed.
Participate in overall department assessment and goal planning.
Assist as needed in all required departmental functions.
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
1-2 years of experience managing facilities and experience in a membership services or guest services role.
CPR/AED/First Aid, CPR/AED/First Aid instructor within 90 days of hire
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking;
Demonstrated experience working with budgets and facility risk management;
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop partnerships and work effectively as a member of a fast-paced, results-oriented team;
Demonstrated knowledge of national trends and best practices in collegiate recreation aquatics facility management;
Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices in promoting student development and learning;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Demonstrated experience organizing and developing leaders through practical application and learning;
Demonstrated success managing, supervising, and mentoring student employees
Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and commitment to diversity and inclusion;
Commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, TRAINING/EDUCATION
Master’s degree in recreation, sports management, student affairs, higher education administration or other related field.
Successful professional, internship or graduate assistantship experience in facility operations.
2-3 years of successful professional experience in recreation facility operations management.
