ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness is seeking an Aquatics Graduate Assistant for the Fall 2021 semester.

Dates of Employment: August 2, 2021-May 6, 2022. This is typically a two year position based on academic requirements and successful evaluation after the first year of employment.
Compensation: Full NC Resident tuition and fees plus a stipend of $10,500 annually for an average of 25 hours per work weekly. Out of state residents are responsible for the difference in tuition cost. Funding is available for professional development including travel and certifications.

Advocate for awareness, understanding and the diversity and inclusion of all people in Campus Recreation & Wellness facilities, programs and communication while providing a commitment to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Advocate for the educational and cultural benefits of providing diversity and inclusion in the aquatics area
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of aquatics staff members that serve as lifeguards, head guards, and swim instructors
Create and maintain aquatics staff schedule for all regular facility hours, programming, swim lessons and special events (including nights, weekends) and assume responsibility for filling in when necessary
Assist with semester and monthly in-service trainings and contribute to the development and implementation of aquatic emergency action plan procedures
Assist in maintaining online registrations processes, paperwork, spreadsheets, filing, and participation counts with regards to aquatic programs and swim lessons
Participate in teaching Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR classes for the University campus and community
Assists in management of facility reservations for birthday parties, special events, summer camps, and other internal/external groups
Assist in monitoring staff certifications, monthly CPR checks with audits, and other record keeping
Review the employee manual to effectively remedy situations while mentally referencing policies, operations, and situations that adhere to everyday functions within Campus Recreation & Wellness.
Adhere to all University and public safety guidelines regarding COVID-19 emergency procedures

The Aquatics Graduate Assistant is a vital member of the CRW facilities staff and will work in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Facilities, Aquatics, and Outreach. This person is responsible for the supervision and training of aquatic student team members, managing the daily operations, schedule, preventative maintenance and risk management procedures pertaining to both the indoor and outdoor pools. This position leads and facilitates instructional programs to include learn-to-swim, health and safety courses, and monthly Lifeguard In-Service trainings. In addition to the responsibilities above, this person will also directly supervise a growing staff of 40+ aquatic based staff.
