University Recreation at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for an Assistant Director for Club and Intramural Sports to help them achieve their mission to empower students for success through recreation and wellness.
The Assistant Director for Club and Intramural Sports is responsible for administration and oversight of the Club and Intramural Sports programs at University Recreation and assisting with departmental initiatives and requirements.
Develop, supervise, and evaluate Coordinator, graduate assistants, and part time positions. Develop and enforce policies and procedures within areas of responsibility, including program and staff manuals. Maintain comprehensive participation and program records for activity, semester and annual reporting. Create and implement short- and long-term goals in program area assessment, learning outcomes, strategic planning, and other departmental initiatives. Prepare, forecast, and monitor all annual income and expenses for all club sports and intramural sports cost centers, including payroll, maintenance, and equipment. Manage athletic training services and sports injury clinic operations in conjunction with athletic training staff. Collaborate with Assistant Director for Marketing to design and implement an effective marketing plan for club and intramural sports. Be knowledgeable with program and departmental software applications and website maintenance. Manage program inventory including purchasing and long-term planning. Assess risk management policies and procedures within club and intramural sports and maintain program compliance.
Plan and administer the fall, spring, and summer sport activities, including team leagues and tournaments and specialty events. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistant and program assistant employees for the Intramural Sports program. Supervise the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of sport activity staff, including 30-40 officials and 10-15 supervisors.
Administer all aspects of the Club Sports Program, including budget, policy development and enforcement, facility reservations, participant eligibility, coaches, and risk management. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistant and program assistant employees for the Club Sports program. Oversee agency and foundation accounts for all Club Sports. Serve as liaison to the Club Sports Advisory Committee. Recruit new club teams and participants. Assist in the facilitation of fundraising for club sports teams.
Master’s degree in recreation, physical education, student affairs, higher education, sport management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
At least three years of full time, professional work experience in collegiate recreation and intramural sports or club sports program administration.
Supervisory experience with student and graduate assistant staff.
Demonstrate success in the development and implementation of recreation programs to a culturally diverse population at a large four-year institution.
Demonstrate competence in training and supervision of multiple part-time staff with emphasis on intramural sports officials and supervisors.
Demonstrate competence to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
Demonstrate proficiency in campus recreation software programs and applications across a variety of technologies.
Active involvement in campus recreation and/or higher education professional organizations
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of collegiate recreation and club and intramural sports administration.
